India’s Aerospace Leap: Tata and #Airbus Launch Landmark Final Assembly Line for C295 Aircraft in Vadodara 28/10/2024 In a major breakthrough for India’s aerospace and defense industry, Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and Airbus have inaugurated the Final Assembly Line (FAL) complex for the Airbus #C295 military transport aircraft in Vadodara, Gujarat. This collaboration under the “Make in India” initiative will deliver 56 C295 aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF), advancing India’s defense manufacturing capabilities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish President Pedro Sánchez inaugurated the state-of-the-art facility, marking the first instance of a private sector-led aircraft assembly line in India. Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran and Airbus Defence and Space CEO Michael Schoellhorn were also present at the event, celebrating a historic stride for India’s “AatmaNirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India) program. Three years after the IAF’s acquisition of the C295s to replace its aging AVRO fleet, this facility will manufacture and assemble 40 aircraft domestically, while 16 units will be delivered directly from Airbus’ Seville, Spain line. So far, six aircraft have been delivered to the IAF. This pioneering facility will manufacture the first private sector defense aircraft for India, significantly enhancing our defense and manufacturing strength,” said Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran. He thanked the dignitaries for their support on this milestone for India’s indigenous production journey. Airbus CEO Schoellhorn underscored the commitment to India’s “AatmaNirbhar Bharat” vision, stating that the C295 program marks a new era for India’s aerospace industrial ecosystem, with far-reaching impact for the nation’s self-reliant defense capabilities. #IAF #Airbus #modi #vadodara #TATA #TSAL
