Firms across India Inc are on an aggressive hiring spree for talent with artificial intelligence (AI) skills, prachi verma reports for The Economic Times. AI experts at the mid to senior levels are in demand. Head of AI, Head of Data Sciences, Head of Platform Engineering, and Head of Gen AI are the most sought-after job profiles, with candidates having two to three offers to choose from at a time, says Jai Ballani, Senior Partner at executive search firm Korn Ferry. In fact, quite a few firms have made appointments in these profiles recently, like SAP Labs India, Blackstone, Xebia, Adani AI Labs, and Yotta Data Services, the report says. The number of senior and leadership positions in AI has doubled in the last year and the demand isn’t just limited to tech companies, says Krishna Vij, Vice President at TeamLease Digital. The healthcare, retail, energy, manufacturing, cement production, and consulting sectors are looking for AI talent. Meanwhile, the surge in demand for such professionals is being reflected in skyrocketing salary expectations, Surakha P writes in another report for The Economic Times. For close to seven in 10 firms in India, high salary expectations are proving to be a roadblock in hiring AI talent, according to a survey by Deel and Rakuten. In fact, four in five of the 250 companies surveyed are only looking to hire within India, primarily in the finance, manufacturing, and tech sectors. Candidates are looking for salary hikes of 50% and offers even upwards of ₹3 crore annually are being made for AI leadership talent, say executive search firms. The rising demand for AI talent across industries is such an exciting development! It's no longer just tech companies seeking AI experts—industries like healthcare, energy, manufacturing, and even cement production are realizing the potential of AI to transform their operations. What’s even more interesting is the increasing number of senior AI roles available, from Head of AI to Head of Gen AI. This shows how vital AI leadership is becoming for driving innovation and growth. While higher salary expectations are creating some hiring challenges, this also reflects the value that companies are placing on top AI talent. As the competition for AI professionals heats up, companies have an opportunity to go beyond just competitive salaries. Fostering a culture of continuous learning and upskilling, along with offering growth opportunities, will be key to attracting and retaining the best minds in AI. Very interesting read this - #India has a booming #engineering talent ecosystem, concentrated around Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai. Many US-based companies find it easier to recruit high-quality and lowest cost talent, and those wages drive compensation from an increasing number of Indian startups. In the US, over time there’s been a big push for salary and compensation (often referred to in India as “package”) particularly with products like levels.fyi. Legacy products like Glassdoor and Payscale are wildly inaccurate. In this article, we analyze a high fidelity dataset of 25,000 people’s salary information containing: Years of Experience Salary Variable Salary / Bonus Equity / Stock-based compensation Company Name(s) https://lnkd.in/g92xuFeV

Why Tech Hiring Is Accelerating: Trends and Insights #FinanceWrapIndia #LinkedInNewsIndia In the ever-evolving outlook of technology, the demand for skilled professionals continues to surge. As we step into the second half of 2024, several factors are driving the rapid acceleration of tech hiring. Let’s delve into the key trends and insights shaping this phenomenon. 1. Digital Transformation and Industry Shifts The Digital Imperative Businesses across sectors are enfolding digital transformation to stay competitive. Whether it’s adopting cloud solutions, implementing AI-driven processes, or enhancing cybersecurity, organizations recognize the need to evolve. Consequently, they’re actively seeking tech talent to drive these initiatives. Emerging Industries Industries like fintech, healthtech, and edtech are experiencing explosive growth. Startups and established companies alike are expanding their teams to innovate and disrupt traditional models. As a result, roles in software development, data science, and UX design are in high demand. 2. Remote Work and Global Talent Pools The Remote Revolution The pandemic accelerated the acceptance of remote work. Companies now realize that talent isn’t confined to geographical boundaries. Remote positions allow them to tap into global talent pools, leading to increased hiring. Tech professionals can work from anywhere, contributing to a more diverse workforce. Cross-Border Recruitment Companies are actively recruiting internationally. They’re leveraging platforms, virtual job fairs, and AI-driven tools to identify top talent across borders. This trend not only widens the talent pool but also fosters cultural exchange and collaboration. 3. Skills Shortage and Upskilling Initiatives The Skills Gap Despite the surge in demand, there’s a shortage of skilled tech talents. Companies are competing for the same talent, leading to fierce hiring battles. Specialized skills like machine learning, blockchain, and DevOps are particularly sought after. Investment in Upskilling To bridge the skills gap, organizations are investing in upskilling programs. They’re partnering with educational institutions, offering internal training, and encouraging continuous learning. Upskilled employees become valuable assets, reducing reliance on external hires. 4. Diversity and Inclusion Efforts Prioritizing Diversity Tech companies are actively addressing diversity and inclusion. They recognize that diverse teams drive innovation and better problem-solving. Initiatives to hire more women, minorities, and individuals from underrepresented backgrounds are gaining momentum. Inclusive Hiring Practices Companies are reevaluating their hiring processes to eliminate bias. Blind recruitment, diverse interview panels, and mentorship programs are becoming standard practices. The goal is to create an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
