🌍 Protecting Our Children: A Shared Responsibility 🌍 Children are the most vulnerable members of our society, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure their safety and well-being, both online and offline. With the increasing digital exposure today, they face threats like cyberbullying, online exploitation, and inappropriate content—issues that demand our urgent attention. 💡 Here are 5 ways we can all contribute to child protection: 1. Educate: Teach children about online safety, privacy, and the importance of reporting inappropriate behavior. 2. Supervise: Use parental controls and monitor online activities to protect against harmful content. 3. Advocate: Push for stronger policies and laws that safeguard children's rights and prosecute offenders. 4. Engage: Actively participate in discussions around child safety at schools, communities, and workplaces. 5. Support: Stand by organizations and initiatives that work relentlessly to protect and empower children. 🛑 We can’t afford to stay silent. Every voice counts in building a safer world for our children. Let’s take action, raise awareness, and work together to create an environment where every child can thrive without fear. #ChildProtection #CyberSafety #EndExploitation #ChildrenFirst #OnlineSafety

TWG is proud to stand alongside so many incredible organizations fighting ensure the internet is safe for our children! We will leverage our advocacy and your voices to push for this vital piece of legislation to move quickly through the legislative process and to the President's desk. “As a former Director of Human Trafficking Programs and acting Director of the Office for Victims of Crime in the U.S. Department of Justice, I have witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of online exploitation on our children. The passage of the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) is not just a legislative priority; it is a moral imperative to protect the most vulnerable members of our society from further victimization and exploitation. The digital landscape is constantly evolving, and with it, the tactics used by predators to exploit our children. KOSA represents a critical step forward in closing the gaps that have allowed such exploitation to flourish unchecked. By mandating robust protections, transparency, and accountability measures for online platforms, we can significantly reduce the risks faced by minors every day. This legislation is essential for preventing harm and ensuring a safer online environment for all children. The time to act is now; we cannot afford to delay in safeguarding the well-being and future of our young ones,” said Bill Woolf, Principal of The Woolf Group (TWG). #KOSA #TWG #advocacy #policy #kidsfirst https://lnkd.in/e9Q6u8VV

ICYMI: Paul Lekas Lekas of SIIA sheds light on the shortcomings of the revised Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA). KOSA aims to safeguard minors, but it poses threats of censorship and privacy breaches. It's time to reassess. Let's focus on genuine solutions that ensure child safety without compromising freedoms. Join us in the Keep Kids Safe and Connected campaign, advocating for safeguards against new vulnerabilities in children's and adults' private data, unregulated safety concerns, limited parental control, educational access, and freedom of expression.

On the heels of the Province of BC’s new legislation regarding the sharing of intimate images, the Intimate Images Protection Act, they have launched a number of concrete actions to help kids safe, including being able to make a claim to have images removed. https://lnkd.in/d658gwd7 Jen Graham, Program Director of PLEA‘s Children of the Street program commented “as a program that spends most of its time in BC’s schools, we know that the sharing of intimate images is currently the #1 cause for concern for both students and school staff, when it comes sexual exploitation. It can cause tremendous pain, distress, and harm. No one should be subjected to this abuse. The new reporting tool provides BC residents with an effective way to remove intimate images from the internet quickly, while also empowering them to seek justice. The Office of the Attorney General has gone to great lengths to ensure the process is accessible and safe for victims, and we commend their efforts in doing so. This is a big step in ensuring individuals are able to take action if their image has been shared, and as importantly, towards holding those who share intimate images without consent accountable.” For information on how to make a claim and other supports and resources, visit the Civil Resolutions BC website: https://lnkd.in/dDYn4xz9 #GovernmentofBC #NikkiSharma #solicitorgeneral #childrenofthestreet #keepourkidssafe #StopTheShare #onlineawareness #OnlineSafety #intimateimagesprotectionact #DigitalSafety #CyberSafety #DigitalWellbeing #SafeCommunities

The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) was announced with updated language this week—with a whopping 62 senate co-sponsors! Both Republicans and Democrats are standing united on this crucial bill to protect our children. This is the first time in 25 years that an online child protection bill has such strong momentum to reach the Senate Floor. And YOU made it happen! Thank you so much to those of you who contacted your legislators, supported our work financially, or otherwise partnered with us in advocating for this common-sense safety measure. This milestone achievement would never have happened without you. The next step is to get KOSA to the Senate Floor! Please use your powerful voice one more time and contact your Senators to urge Leader Schumer to bring KOSA to the floor for a vote—it really does make a difference! ACTION: Urge the Senate to Pass KOSA! Take Action! What does KOSA Do? KOSA requires tech platforms to be designed with safety features ON by default for children. It also establishes a "duty of care" to ensure that platforms responsibly design their products in a manner that is safe for children. The new version of the bill that was introduced this week includes revisions inspired by feedback from marginalized communities and other key stakeholders. This bill will go a long way in protecting children—especially marginalized and vulnerable children—from rampant online harms like child sexual exploitation, suicide instruction, harassment, eating disorder content, and more.https://https://lnkd.in/gUh_YgzV

📣Join us in calling for stronger child safety standards online. We’re asking our community to use their voice to raise awareness about the eSafety Commissioner’s draft safety standards for relevant electronic services (RES), including email, SMS, MMS, chat, instant messaging, various online games and dating services. eSafety's draft standards provide better protections for children from sexual exploitation and abuse. But we believe the standard should be strengthened to provide the kind of protection we know is necessary. You can read our additions in the below article. However, the eSafety Commissioner can only hold digital platforms to account on child safety with strong community support. This is why we need your help. What part can you play in keeping children safe? 📣Pledge your support by 6 June to ensure that your voice is heard. 📣Share one of these social media tiles on your accounts to help garner more support.
