Stuck in a moment that you can’t get out of? No, I'm not talking about the U2 song, i’m talking about that time in sales where you got turned down… You prepared for the meetings, put your best effort into the proposal, practiced your pitch, followed up, got a positive response during the meetings and still the deal didn’t happen. I have learned that maintaining a resilient attitude in life is key, but specially in sales roles it’s something essential to survive in the face of adversity and to stay mentally stable. Each "no" can be an opportunity to improve our sales strategies, better understand customer needs, and refine our communication skills. Rejections are part of the natural sales process. By analyzing each situation, adjusting our approaches, and persisting with determination, we get closer to achieving our goals. We recommend always making a deal review after: a) you are successful in closing, but specially in b) when the deal doesn’t work out How do we do this? We call all the involved parties in the team to a team meeting and analyze: ✔ What worked? ✔ What did not work? ✔ What would we have done differently? ✔ Hypothesis about external factors that didn’t help Having this session help us be practical about the deal, bring different point of views about it and also help draft different possibilities about what didn’t help. After it, to close the chapter, we look to find out if our hypothesis were correct (or not) and seek mentorship that can offer valuable perspectives and help us manage frustration constructively. Ultimately, perseverance and the ability to learn and adapt are essential to overcome the challenges that arise on the path to success in sales. Here are some additional tips I use: ✔ Take a break and give yourself closure ✔ Don't compare yourself to other salesperson or companies ✔ Celebrate the learning opportunities Remember, sales is a challenging profession, but it is also very rewarding. 💡 By learning to manage frustration and developing the right mindset, you can achieve great success.

🚀 So, You Want to Be a Salesperson… As a seasoned sales manager, I’ve emphasized to my sales representatives that becoming a successful salesperson involves honing several key skills:: 🔹 Communication Skills: Effective communication goes beyond just speaking. It encompasses active listening and persuasive writing. As a salesperson, you must articulate the value of your product or service clearly. 🔹 Problem-Solving Skills: You need to have the skills to properly identify problems your prospects need to solve (pain point). This means identifying the correct problems or desires your customers have. Think about the breadth and depth of the problem. Following a sales framework like BANT, MEDDICC, SPIN, Sandler, etc. should help. 🔹 Business Acumen: Grasp how businesses operate. Understand how economic conditions impact decision-making. Stay informed about industry trends and shifts. 🔹 Empathy: When a customer chooses your offering, it affects their job, career, and organization. Recognize the emotional weight of change and empathize with their journey. 🔹 Commitment to Learning: Sales is a lifelong learning journey. Continuously deepen your understanding of your product, industry, and the decision-makers you engage with. Read sales literature, attend conferences, and explore related fields like marketing, product development, etc. Sharpen your tools. 🔹 Self-Motivation: Sales can be tough. Reflect on what motivates you—whether it’s financial gains or personal fulfillment. When setbacks occur (and they will), pick yourself up when you get knocked down. 🔹 Work Smart and Hard: Prioritize preparation, research your target companies. Recharge daily and approach each day with renewed energy. Ask yourself, did I give my best effort today? 🔹 Stay Hungry and Humble: Remember that sales drives business. Nothing happens until a sale occurs. You’re not just selling a product; you’re contributing to the economy. Your success impacts not only you but also your colleagues and their families. 🔹 Mindset Matters: Sales is a mental game. Cultivate a positive, resilient mindset. Believe in your ability to make a difference. Remember, sales isn’t just a job—it’s a thinking “sport.” Approach it with passion, curiosity, and the right mindset, and success will follow! 🌟 What's the most important sales skill you've developed? Please feel free to share this if you found this post useful. Good luck and good selling! #sales #salesmotivation #careers #business #communication #lifelonglearning

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭'𝐬 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 (no PAIN, no GAIN) Reaching out to a client who knows and loves you is comfortable, but sustainable growth also demands developing new business. Equally important, salespeople must navigate complex and sometimes challenging conversations with existing customers to strengthen and grow those relationships. If you're a sales professional who struggles with advancing your opportunities through the sales process, here's a powerful model to help customers or prospects discover their own needs by recognizing the gap between their current and desired situations: 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 – Get them talking about their current problems or solutions: ◉ What changes in the environment or market are creating challenges for your organization? ◉ What have you done to address this problem or challenge? 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 – Help them articulate their goals and desired outcomes: ◉ What will success look like for you? ◉ What kind of impact will solving this problem have on your business? 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 – Highlight the risks of maintaining the status quo: ◉ If you continue as you are, what’s the biggest concern? What might happen? ◉ If you don’t take action to change, what other issues might arise down the road? 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 – Highlight the benefits of achieving their goals: ◉ If you could eliminate those challenges, how would that benefit your organization? ◉ What would it mean for you and your team if you could solve this problem? The best salespeople bring clarity to the decision-making process. Customers often need—and appreciate—an outside expert to help them navigate through this analysis. Let's step up, ask the right questions, and guide them toward success. Sales is about identifying the client's PAIN and then delivering the GAIN for the client. #salesprocess #fixmysalesteam #acceleratetowin #salesgrowth

In any professional role, mindset is a powerful force that can either propel you forward or hold you back. But in sales, where performance is often tied to personal interaction, rejection, and mental resilience( GRIT), mindset is crucial. Every day, salespeople have hundreds of internal conversations—those silent, persistent thoughts that shape how we perceive our abilities, challenges, and results. The question is: are these conversations helpful? More importantly, are they even true? The beliefs we hold about ourselves, our industry, and our potential can either enable or limit our success. Unfortunately, we have found working with sales teams many sales professionals carry limiting beliefs that, though often false, become mental barriers. Identifying and overcoming these limiting beliefs is key to unlocking greater success in sales. Here are the top 10 limiting beliefs salespeople often experience, along with strategies to overcome them.

Here's how you can use resilience to overcome objections and rejections in sales. Learn from each experience Reflect on every objection or rejection to identify areas for improvement. As highlighted in Why Are You Really Winning and Losing Deals: A Customer Perspective on Determinants of Sales Failure, understanding the buyer's perspective on why deals are won or lost is crucial. Seek feedback and conduct win-loss reviews to gain insights. Celebrate small wins Don't get demoralized by the inherent rejection in sales. Celebrate every small milestone - a good discovery call, an objection well-handled, or a proposal request earned. This reinforces a positive outlook as explained in Never Split the Difference: Negotiating as if Your Life Depended on It. Build emotional intelligence Develop the ability to manage your emotions and not take objections personally. Use techniques like labeling fears to diffuse tensions, as recommended in the book Never Split the Difference. Maintain perspective Understand that objections are part of the process, not a judgment on you or your product. Your saved article 3 Questions Sales Teams Should Ask After Losing (or Winning) a Deal emphasizes the importance of depersonalizing wins/losses. Lean on your support system Build a network of peers, mentors, and sales leaders who can provide encouragement, coaching, and feedback when you face objections. A strong support system helps build resilience. The key is to turn objections into learning opportunities, maintain professionalism and poise, and persistently refine your sales approach. With resilience and the right mindset, objections become mere speedbumps on the path to success. #SalesTips

You're great at selling when you're in front of the right people. It's just getting in front of them that's hard! Here are three things you can do about it... 1. Mindset Your results (at least the ones you have control over) are determined by your actions; and your actions are determined by your... – Feelings – Thoughts – Beliefs The most successful consultants I've ever met are certain they have something valuable to offer and believe (rightly) that it's entirely appropriate to contact strangers (aka, potential customers) to find out if they're interested. Deep down, the least successful believe the opposite. Just as you can train and improve your physical strength, you can train and improve your mindset. 2. Action Everything you want is on the other side of different actions. The most important action for consultants and technical sales specialists who want to get in front of more of the right people is... – Conversations. Not emails. Not Linkedin messages. Not endlessly editing your website. – Conversations! Whether it's face-to-face or on the phone, be brave and find ways to speak to more people – conversations is the ultimate measure of future appointment-getting success. 3. Skills & Knowledge Business is, to a large extent, a self-development journey disguised as a capitalist enterprise. The more skills and knowledge you have, the more value you can offer to others in a more appealing way. Understand that customer acquisition skills are just as important as skills and knowledge of your specialist area of expertise. – – – To quote Goethe (and/or W.H. Murray): "Whatever you do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it." Onwards! 📈💯
