National Fireworks Safety Month starts in June and runs through the Fourth of July, reminding us that DIY fireworks can be dangerous. If fireworks are illegal in your area, there's a reason. Don't risk a home display. Instead, enjoy professional, safe fireworks shows. If fireworks are legal and you choose to use them, follow these tips: 🚫Never light a firework without reading its instructions. Responsible usage can prevent injuries. Pay attention to warning labels. Fireworks are generally not for children, and pets should be kept safely indoors. 🚫Lighting fireworks indoors can lead to disaster. Launch them in an open area, far from buildings, vehicles, children, and animals. 🚫Dry grass and plants can easily catch fire. Check your launch area in daylight to ensure it's free of dry grass or foliage. Relocate if needed. 🚫Stray fireworks can set buildings ablaze or shatter windows. Keep fireworks away from homes and businesses. Avoid power or gas lines to prevent fires. ✅Be prepared. Keep a bucket of water, a hose, or a fire extinguisher nearby. If a fire starts, you'll be ready to put it out immediately. Review all fireworks safety tips during National Fireworks Safety Month. From all of us at ServiceMaster, have a fun, happy, and safe Fourth of July!

Wanna start with the good news or the bad news??? 👎 The bad news is that you can’t light your own fireworks. 👍The good news is that you don't need to because the firework display in Petaluma is back! Fireworks will be launched around 9:30pm from the Petaluma Fairgrounds. The fireworks will be easily viewable from parks and neighborhoods all over town. Want to snag the best spot? Check out the interactive map on the city website at: https://lnkd.in/gVrvV4_W. While we understand fireworks are a beloved tradition for many, our top priority is to keep our residents and properties safe and the threat wildfires added to the dangers of illegal fireworks present too significant a risk to our community. Given the high temperatures, low humidity, and early season fire activity, we urge Petalumans to make safe choices and to refrain from using fireworks. Staff from both the police department and fire department will be patrolling the city and will cite individuals violating the City’s fireworks ban, which includes fines. Please note that property owners are responsible for any firework activity that occurs on their property regardless of who possesses or lights the fireworks, and that violations are subject to a $1,000 fine. That’s $1,000 you could spend on something way cooler, like 50 pizzas to share with your friends while you watch the firework show or 1000 doughnuts you could drop off at your local police department. Just some suggestions! Please also remember our 911 number is reserved for EMERGENCIES. To report fireworks, please use our non-emergency line. Be aware that due to staffing limitations, response times may be slower, and priority will be given to more severe incidents. How to Call: 1. Prepare Information: Before calling, gather as much information as possible: o Exact location of the fireworks. o Description of the individuals involved, if visible. o Duration and frequency of the fireworks activity. o Any associated risks or immediate dangers. 2. Call Dispatch: Dial the non-emergency dispatch number (707-778-4373). Use 911 only if there is an immediate threat to life or property. Stay safe Petaluma, and thanks for your cooperation!
