An abundance of noisy data is one reason why results can differ so widely with generative AI. The importance of training models with high quality specific data influences the end product. Yesterday I was practicing yoga at the studio and all of these thoughts kept flooding in- from menu ideas for an upcoming dinner party, to meeting prep for Monday, to self-doubt. Just like my mind was being cluttered, so is the massive world wide web which most industry- public and private- revolves around. In the rush to market, incomplete, low quality, biased, and noisy data sets have been used to train technology and systems that have life-changing implications. Revolutionary technology in the healthcare space has been shelved due to biased data sets. Autonomous vehicles are notorious for their issues. Whether we are absorbing information personally or uploading training images- let's take a moment to filter. I'm currently on an AI fundamentals course. It's been really interesting and helpful to better understand, rather than fear, the power that AI unlocks. My current focus is on how I’ll hack my brain to use the various forms of AI – for example, I need retrain myself from the way I use a search engine, today, for “finding” stuff to using GenAI to “create” stuff, tomorrow, – that’s way more empowering, and something I look forwards to.
