An SME supplier digest of P4H England It was notable that encouragement and engagement of all suppliers, but particularly SMEs such as Candy Healthcare, is being brought to the forefront by the content of The Procurement Act 2023 and NHS Commercial's strategic framework. The objective? To encourage continued marketplace competition and foster a melting pot of innovation and evolution. Moving to the speakers' focus; to caption the photo, Ruth Burns' "Five Steps to Positive Supplier Relationships and Why They Matter" was a great roadmap for suppliers, let alone procurers, as to how to prioritise how we deliver service to create actual, genuine NHS partnerships. As in life, NHS relationship management is mostly about being a reasonable, committed and responsible person who can offer effective outcomes. I know a lot of what I offer is achievable, simply by being an agile SME, having taken innovation to the extreme by starting an agency model afresh ready for the coming years in a shrunk Nursing market. The nature geek in me likens our model to the leanness evolution creates. In harsh environments, changes which either require less input, or increase output, make an organism or a business model sustainable. I thank the Trusts who've already made the decision to bring us in and hope to have more introductory conversations over the coming weeks with Temporary Staffing, Frameworks or Procurement Leads who are looking to energise, innovate and maintain high levels of competition on their PSLs ready to slingshot into this winter (and, while we are allowed to long term plan these days, the years ahead).
