Change of scale, change of topic-focus. Slope stability, an arbitrary-artificial example to show the application of 2D discrete element model to this problem... a simple model shown at a couple of stages, final geometry is static. Shown also are some incremental displacements and the final total displacement for individual elements.. just a quick, rough and ready, example ... more refined examples to follow

|| Game of Structure Analysis, I always enjoy analysing various kind of structures and perform multiple load combinations on them. I am a super nerd when it comes to unique complex evaluations about structures. — Opening up a new project and start designing building models and core structure elements, I know it’s a SE thing. — Here load types + load combinations, Case 01 (Wind 01) horizontal pressure at certain line force. 1) Reactions 2) Forces 3) Stresses 4) Maximum deflections 5) Interaction forces 6) Load take down results — Thankyou for watching. 📑👷🏼♂️ #NerdDot #structuralanalysis #structuralengineering

#Pushover_Analysis #Performance_Based_Seismic_Design #18_Story_Building Using Pushover Analysis we can find the Load-Deformation Curve or Stress-Strain Curve which is the X-Ray of the structure. From this curve we can get a lot of information that can be used in big decisions while designing a structure. it can be found out that up to how much action ( shear, moment, deflection etc) the structure is linear and elastic. critical structural elements can be found out and those should consider specifically in designing. or the structural members can be improved and rerun to check the model.

Saturday Night at the Movies... well actually only my pitiful attempts... but anyway still testing out cavern excavation or dissolution at depth using my 2D discrete element code. Simple excavation (removal) of material at depth in a 2.5 x 1.4 km section, frictional-cohesive cover, colour scheme is just to give some contrast, no mechanical significance. Resolution around 10m. No internal wall pressure applied. But the excavated geometry is not to the cover's liking and some summary re-adjustment takes place.... all illustrated by this simple movie in 2 parts, firstly I just show the geometry as it evolves, a boring phase of equilibration, creation of a void a depth followed by re-adjustment, second half of movie is same simulation but shows the incremental displacement which is rather funky during equilbration but gets more serious when the action starts.... lights, camera...

Another figure with a cambered NACA geometry, discretized with #meshblocks, using only hexahedral elements. We can see the flow solution as well, which is provided by Fast BEM. Periodic conditions are applied on the side walls. #beap_tiny #numerical_analysis
