The restructuring of an existing value stream can represent the greatest possible tactical challenge that managers face in the context of Agile transformation. 💫 In this recent case study, Lothar Fischmann shows how the right handling of constraints and practices allowed his client’s transformation team to handle complex and complicated questions to maneuver their organizations through this challenge. 🚀 Today's organizations face greater decision-making challenges than ever before. Modern technology advancements and worldwide macro trends are revolutionizing business practices, and the conventional hierarchical corporate governance models are showing to be not only insufficient but also an impediment to success. The antiquated methods of command-and-control management hinder innovation and delay progress. They inhibit those lower in the organization from acting on the basis of their own pertinent knowledge and experience, and they establish and maintain organizational silos. 👓 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gKAQ9ype #CommandResults #ScaledAgile #AgileFramework #LeanAgile #AgileProjectManagement #DisciplinedAgile #ScaledAgile #ScaledAgileFramework # Scrum #LeanAgilePractices

When I saw the structure for the very first time, a few questions came up: - Does waterfall and agile generate the same structures? - Is there a difference in structures generated in successful/failed projects? - Is complex structure still effective from a management perspective? Are dense-centric networks more efficient than small-world ones? These questions remain unanswered. I’m not convinced the penny ever dropped that #Agile was about attitudes and behaviours. Other than a lame attempt to convince everyone they now think differently using the nonsensical term “Agile Mindset”, I’ve seen no real evidence of a shift in the actual thinking required. Even less so at the enterprise level. Sadly, the good intent that many started out with quickly became a bandwagon gravy train - passengers include the cerficate production factories, the framework construction companies, the delusional Agilistas, and the big #managementconsulting firms peddling cookie-cutters that don’t work. That train has now clearly reached the end of the line. I’ve seen how big change and transformation actually works. I’ve worked with executives who get it, leaders doing ggreat work, and change agents who know how to get things done without being slaves to a model. Your customers don’t care how you deliver value and quality products and services. Nor should you. Time to think differently. #businessagility #agiletransformation #agilecoaching #scrumasters #changemanagement #projectmanagement #management #executivesandmanagement #criticalthinking #scrum #safe

I've grappled with this concept for years. Success isn’t about adhering to a particular framework; it’s rooted in logical, well-planned execution, proactive risk and issue management, and transparent communication that aligns stakeholder expectations. #BusinessAgility #AgileTransformation #ChangeLeadership #AgileMindset #ExecutiveLeadership #TransformationNotFrameworks #CriticalThinking #RethinkAgile

Change Control Boards, Stage Gates, Quality Gates ... they all create drag on the flow of value to customers. And quite often agile consultants swoop in, make a big stink about this drag, and push for their abolishment. Much less often, do these agile consultants think about the vacuum that will be created once these things are gone, and even more rarely do they consider the value of these gates and why they exist in the first place. These types of gates are tremendously effective & necessary in low-trust environments. So rather than summarily erasing these gating processes off the face of the map, we need to think about how to create high-trust environments where they aren't required. #agile #agileconsultant #agilecoach #lean #flow #valuestream

Understanding that you need to have iterative and incremental development, team-based delivery and stable velocity, streamlined flow of value, early releases, high quality, and the ability to respond to change... What would ask of the organization? What changes would you make? And could you guarantee those changes would lead to a successful implementation of an agile ecosystem? Often, people will point to culture when they can't articulate a transformation strategy executives will buy into. Here's what your transformation strategy should like: First, you create a system of delivery that’s formed around teams, with clear backlogs, and the ability to produce an increment of working tested product at a stable velocity. It should have a lightweight, agile governance model that ties into the portfolio management and investment tier strategies. And it should have metrics and controls that create safety and clarity for your executives. Then, you enable the system with agile practices. And here's the interesting thing... Once you have a trustworthy system that’s producing results, that’s when you see the culture, attitudes, and behaviors begin to soften and change. #Agile #AgileTransformation #BusinessAgility #ChangeManagement #ProjectManagement
