Building capacity of municipal water systems in Africa. Typical government or NGO thing right? Nedamco Africa disagrees. This Dutch company has partnered with Dire Dawa’s water authority and is introducing an innovative business model to tackle the city's water challenges. How Nedamco Africa is solving development challenges through business solutions: 🚰 Create a digital twin of Dire Dawa's water system to help spot leaks and optimise water use 💧 Measure water quality to inform the municipal water authority to make improvements 🖥️ Train and upskill young people to operate these digital systems through Nedamco Academy 💰 Catalysing private investment into sustainable water use by generating water credits TRAIDE helped Nedamco Africa in its initial market exploration, service offer development and business modelling, and building partnerships with key stakeholders. Last week was the official launch of the Catchment City Waste project together with the Ethiopian Minister of Water H.E. Dr. Eng. Habtamu Itefa Geleta and the Dutch Ambassador Mr. Henk Jan Bakker. We are excited to see this Ethio-Dutch water initiative start to flow! Zweder Wurfbain Schelto Wurfbain Jelmer van Veen #water #SDG6 #digitalization #innovation #Ethiopia #Netherlands #partnership

To improve access to water and the reliability of water services, the program is designed to reduce the burdens of water collection, particularly impacting women and children, and to decrease health risks associated with poor water quality. #SASaWa is structured around 3 core pillars that guide its comprehensive strategy to improve water access and management: 💧 Water Innovation: Focuses on introducing and scaling innovative, financially viable WASH solutions to ensure safe water reaches the most vulnerable communities in urban, peri-urban, and rural settings. 💧 WASH Systems Strengthening: Enhances the capacity and resilience of the entire WASH ecosystem, empowering local municipalities, utilities, NGOs, and other water service providers to deliver high-quality, reliable, and affordable services. 💧 Catalytic Infrastructure Investments: Supports critical infrastructure development through risk mitigation, technical assistance, and project preparation, setting the stage for significant investments from various sectors. The SASaWa initiative exemplifies a strategic, multi-faceted approach to addressing critical water issues in Kenya's ASALs. By building on the solid foundations of established programs and focusing on innovative, sustainable solutions, #SASaWa is poised to make a lasting impact on the region's water security.

Exciting times for renewable energy innovation, especially with the surge of interest in hydrogen! 🌍💧 Hydrogen offers incredible potential as a clean, versatile fuel source, helping decarbonize energy use beyond electricity—such as cooking. It’s also great to see the development of green hydrogen, produced with renewable sources, which has significant environmental advantages by reducing emissions and fostering a circular energy economy. As we refine hydrogen production and storage technologies, we’re likely to see it play a key role in the global energy transition. 🌱
