In South Sudan, the FEED II program is making a remarkable impact on gender equality. Through training, women are gaining access to resources and knowledge that enable them to lead both at home and in agriculture. As one participant shared, “Now, our husbands respect us. We manage the farm and household responsibilities together.” FEED II, implemented by World Vision, CARE, and War Child, is empowering women by reducing inequalities in access to resources and fostering safer environments for leadership. This initiative is aligned with Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy and is part of a broader strategy to strengthen resilience through food security and livelihoods. Thank you, Global Affairs Canada, CARE and War Child and Canadians nationwide, for funding to make FEED II possible. Together, we’re building a future of equality for women in South Sudan. 🙌 Learn more: https://bit.ly/3zwvE2S Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada #FEEDII #GenderEquality #Empowerment #SouthSudan #WorldVision #GlobalAffairsCanada

Promoting gender equality and recognizing women's unique role in the agriculture industry are crucial. Empowering women in agribusiness is key to unlocking their full potential. That is why the U.S. government supports Ghanaian agribusinesses through the Feed the Future Mobilizing Finance in Agriculture Activity, which has unlocked nearly USD 205 million in financing for more than 33,000 agribusinesses, half of which are led or owned by women. Policy LINK is a global Feed the Future program that aims to empower policy system actors through increased human and social capital, fostering a cycle of collaboration and trust for innovative policy solutions. By enhancing inclusive platforms for collaborative governance and strengthening knowledge-sharing mechanisms, the initiative seeks sustainable positive change for improved food security policy outcomes. Gender equity in the ocean space is crucial for creating economic security, social, and cultural resilience, especially for women and girls in coastal communities who are disproportionately affected by climate change. Initiatives like women-led seaweed farming in Tanzania, highlighted by the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance, demonstrate the importance of integrating gender equality and women-focused targets in ocean-related projects. We can learn from these experiences in Tanzania as similar women led reef positive solutions or initiatives are piloted in Kimbe Bay, West New Brtain Province funded by Global Fund for Coral Reef and SDG Trust Fund and implemented by UNDP in PNG in partnership with PNG Government Conservation Environment Protection Authority. #undpinpng#gfcr#sdg# https://lnkd.in/gtssH6dU
Our Executive Director, Karen Sack, features in the recent The Commonwealth’s #BlueCharter video campaign for #WorldOceanDay! 🌊 Find out more about the movement towards gender equity in the ocean space through Karen’s story about visiting a women-led seaweed farming initiative in Tanzania last year, which is working fiercely to counter restrictive social-cultural norms in the local community. 🙌 Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance fully integrates gender equality and women-focused targets into our pipeline of finance and insurance instruments. These efforts to develop gender-sensitive products will enable coastal communities and marine ecosystems to thrive, creating greater economic security as well as social and cultural resilience for women and girls in coastal communities, who are disproportionately affected by climate change. As I reflect on the recent collaboration between Zimbabwe and Nicaragua to promote women in agriculture, I am reminded of the power of international partnerships in driving meaningful change. According to reports, the two countries are working together to share experiences and best practices, with the goal of empowering female farmers and promoting gender equality in the sector. This initiative is a testament to the fact that agriculture is a universal language that can bridge cultural and geographical divides. As someone who is passionate about promoting agriculture and empowering small-scale farmers, I believe that such partnerships can have a significant impact in promoting sustainable development and reducing poverty. What role do you think international partnerships can play in promoting women's participation in agriculture, and how can we support such initiatives? 🌾💡🌱 #abutispinach #Agvocate #AgroDiplomacy

Did you know that in Madagascar it’s estimated that nearly 200,000 women are active in fisheries, with the small-scale sector providing the greatest source of livelihoods for women? Research by Stockholm Resilience Centre and Global Resilience Partnership in conjunction with Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance and the UK’s Blue Planet Fund reports that women play a significant role across the fisheries value chain. 🇲🇬 The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries are “contributing to the promotion of gender equality by supporting vulnerable and marginalised coastal communities, including women.” 👏 Read more about the research here: https://lnkd.in/drjuAXYN #WomenAndEntrepeneurship #GenderEquity #OceanRiskReports

How many conferences, summits, COPs, or workshops have you attended this year? And how many #key stakeholders were present? Probably not many. In the realm of #food systems transformation, much of the dialogue happens externally. Topics like land access, gender equality, credit access, financing for development, access to agricultural inputs, and mechanization are frequently discussed. Unfortunately, #farmers are often left out of these crucial conversations. Creats International is committed to changing this. We are placing farmers at the center of the dialogue and ensuring their voices are heard. With this mission in mind, we are organizing the largest grassroots Agri Expo in Homa Bay on February 19-20, 2025, in Oyugis, Kenya. Interested in participating as a sponsor or exhibitor? Empowering women in agriculture is crucial for sustainable development and food security. As highlighted in recent discussions, closing the gender gap in agricultural resources can significantly enhance productivity and improve livelihoods. By ensuring equal access to land, credit, and training, we can unlock the full potential of women farmers, who play a vital role in feeding communities and driving economic growth. Let's continue to advocate for policies that support gender equality in agriculture and create a more equitable future for all! #GenderEquality #Agriculture #SustainableDevelopment
