🤝 Powering sustainability through partnerships 🤝 As the first of its kind in Denmark, we developed our Fast Frequency Reserve in one of our data centers in collaboration with Schneider Electric. Apart from being an innovation that builds on our Galaxy VX UPS emergency power system, it takes the efficiency and reliability of our operation to new heights. “With the FFR solution, we can stabilize the local power grid, secure critical IT infrastructure for our customers, and reduce energy waste in favor of our planet,” says Peter Kristian Søgaard, Director of Data Center Critical Facility. In 2023, this solution was recognized at the 2023 Danish Data Center Industry Awards and awarded with the Sustainable Data Center Project prize. Read more about the FFR solution and our partnership (in Danish) with Schneider Electric below. #Aeven #AdaptiveDigitalInfrastructure #IT #technology #innovation

Tech UK's post highlights a significant update in the UK's environmental strategy for heat reuse, emphasizing district heating as a key component in reducing carbon emissions and enhancing energy efficiency. The UK government has made district heating a focal point of its decarbonization efforts, supported by targeted policies and funding. However, the UK lags behind European leaders like Denmark and Sweden in district heating adoption, spotlighting the challenges and opportunities for growth. A promising development is a partnership between district heating and data centres, which could use waste heat to benefit local communities while improving data centres' energy efficiency. The future success of district heating in the UK hinges on continued investment and innovation, particularly in forming strategic partnerships and advancing technology to meet ambitious goals. It would also be great to see other people's views on this.

Una Mullally: 'In Ireland, data centre development can be characterised as the largest industrial development rollout this country has ever seen in terms of pace, scale and impact on our energy infrastructure, and by far the majority are in Dublin. The outgoing Government consistently framed the industry as essential to the anchoring the broader Big Tech industry in Ireland. But at what cost? Data centres now consume 21 per cent of all metered electricity nationally. Our data centre figures can be a little opaque, but we have at least 82 operating right now, 14 under construction, and about 40 more approved for planning'.
