We’re proud to have been part of the recent WTS Los Angeles event, where over $130,000 in sponsorships were given to support the advancement of women in transportation. The event featured an inspiring keynote speech by Donna Berry, Caltrans Chief Deputy Director of Project Delivery and Chief Engineer, and remarks from Gloria Roberts, Caltrans District 7 Director and WTS Director at Large.
We also celebrated Tim Lindholm of LA Metro as Owner of the Year and were honored to bring a touch of AECOM to the event as the table floral sponsor.
A special highlight was seeing Neha Yadav, P.E. present the AECOM scholarship to Ociano Romo, an urban planning intern with Kimley-Horn, reflecting our commitment to empowering the next generation of industry leaders.

It's always with an element of intrepidation that I click on links to see what I've said! When you're having great conversations with people, you are in the moment, and not really focussing on every word or phrase.
So it was with great relief that I read the summary of our podcast, and I stand by everything I said! Especially my hope for the future where I envision a generational shift in leadership, more diverse role models, and a constant evolution toward a truly inclusive built environment.

I had the pleasure of attending an in-session day with Kansas Leadership Center over When Everyone Leads.
My greatest takeaway was asking better questions to identify “the gap” and further explore opportunities to close “the gap” in an impactful, open, and often collaborative way — helping individuals, teams, and organizations overcome challenges.
While I certainly recommend checking out the program, here are a few key questions to get the ball rolling (as shared by KLC)…
Question One:
When you think about the future of ____________ (your company, your team, your community, or your family) what concerns you the most?
Question Two:
When you think about the future of ______________ (your company, your team, your community, or your family), what is your greatest aspiration?
Question Three:
What makes it hard to close The Gap between those concerns and aspirations?
*** Thank you to The Thread: Women's Leadership Collective for working with KLC to provide growth opportunities for women in our community.
Gadigal Land, Key Note Speaker, SxSW Mentor, Winner of Emerging Leader in Tech - Women's Agenda Leadership Awards, shortlisted for Women Leading Tech Awards 2024 & Featured on 2024 Empower Executives Role Model List.
Indeed it's not too late to grab those tickets for Women's Agenda Leadership Awards where I will be the MC.
This morning, after reading the 2024 Women in the Workplace from McKinsey & Company shared on #TechDiversity ’s social page, I felt a profound mix of pride and urgency.
As I prepare to MC the Women’s Leadership Awards on October 23rd, I’m reminded of the progress we've made but also of the work that still lies ahead.
The report, marking its 10th year, lays bare both the advancements and the continued challenges for women in the workforce—particularly women of color.
According to the report, for every 100 men promoted to manager, only 54 Black women make that same leap—a statistic that hit me hard this morning.
It’s a reminder that despite our strides, systemic obstacles persist, keeping too many women from reaching leadership roles.
The report also underscores how microaggressions and workplace bias continue to disproportionately affect women, contributing to burnout and disengagement. These are issues I see reflected in the stories I hear every day within our TechDiversity community. It's clear that while some companies are making strides—such as offering more flexibility and bias training—we need to push for deeper, more accountable changes, particularly around career development and mentorship.
As we gather for the Women’s Leadership Awards, it’s not just a celebration of those who have made it, but a call to action for all of us to keep pushing for equity.
Thanks all!
