SEEK Employment Report – September 2024: Key Insights Job ad volumes continue to rise nationally, with a third consecutive month of growth (+0.5% m/m), and a slight increase in applications per job ad (+0.7% m/m)*. In New South Wales and Queensland, ad volumes have grown for the third straight month, while other states such as Victoria (-1.3%) and Tasmania (-2.2%) saw a slight dip in job postings. The Consumer Services sector led the way with a strong 5.6% q/q growth, while Retail & Consumer Products saw a significant increase in job ads, rising 7.2% m/m. As we approach the end of the year, it's clear that some sectors are experiencing strong demand, presenting great opportunities for both job seekers and businesses. 🔴 Metric Monday's. Applications per job ad in Australia increased slightly by 0.7% in August. STATE BY STATE ⤵️ 📈 Increased in Western Australia (5.2%) & Victoria (2.5%) 📉 Decreased in South Australia (-4.2%), Queensland (-2.2%), ACT (-2.4%), Tasmania (-1.1%), NSW (-1.0%) and the Northern Territory (-1.0%). 🔴 While applications per job ad increased nationally, this was primarily driven by increases in Western Australia and Victoria. Other states and territories saw decreases in applications.
