🚫 Myth: Optimizing #CoreWebVitals is expensive and time-consuming. The truth is that you don't need to rebuild your entire site to improve CWV. Simple steps such as image compression, lazy loading, reducing third-party scripts and improving server response times can have a huge impact. With proper research, optimizing websites to pass CWV can be achieved in less than 20 hours of development time. E-commerce brands can improve performance without huge costs – it’s all about making smart, continuous improvements. #CoreWebVitals #WebPerformance

We have another great question from Isaac Phillips! You are working on some updates to the checkout process for a client that requires some automatic changes to the shipping address based on which shipping method is selected. After creating the shipping method and adding a before plugin for Magento\Checkout\Api\ShippingInformationManagementInterface::saveAddressInformation() that overrides the current shipping address with one defined in Store Configuration, you notice that there are several server and frontend errors when the address is supposed to switch. After further investigation, you find that there are multiple rows being saved to quote_address, per quote id, for the shipping address type. What is likely the issue for the errors you are seeing? ℹ Comment with your answer and reasoning. #swiftotter #magento #magentodeveloper #adobecommerce #weeklypracticequestion

B) Can be the correct answer if the address_id is not set when you override the shipping address, Magento treats it as a new address and creates multiple entries in quote_address. This would explain why you are seeing multiple rows saved for the shipping address type. Properly setting the address_id on the overridden address should resolve this issue.

Many online stores with multiple plugins boast fast load times and easy navigation — until it comes to their slow checkout page. Don’t be like them! Ditch the basic plugins and switch to Protect, the smoothest all-in-one protection plugin.

A short note related to BookMyShow's technical out'r'age today after some in-depth analysis: So BookMyShow doesn't have their own queueing system, they outsource it from a company Queue-it. Here's how Queue-it works: Pre-queue (queuing before the sale time) For scheduled sales or timed releases, early visitors are gathered on a page with a countdown timer and every user is assigned a UUID. When the timer hits zero, the corresponding UUIDs are randomized like a raffle and flowed to the queue. Which means clicking on "Book" button at 1:30 PM for a 2PM booking is useless - as it is not even queueing, just generating final queue like a luck based randomized lottery. Actual queueing only happens for folks who join after sale has officially started. However, given that queueing was outsourced, all that BMS had to ensure (apart from traffic) was 1. Smooth login- all systems like email OTP, SMS OTP, Google login, etc. work working fine, as they literally decided to logout all web users at 12 sharp! 2. The button enables for everyone at 12 noon exactly (which it didn't for most of us until 12:20PM, despite of successful login by 12:10 PM) Not sure if logging out everyone on web was a good idea altogether, however not having a fault tolerant authentication system led to disappointing millions of Coldplay fans throughout the country :')
