As a VP of Ops for an advertiser, one of my tasks was to make our campaigns more profitable by monetizing the exit traffic. We had multiple placements, across multiple brands and white labels. I would keep track of all 24 placements and how offers would perform in google sheet. When an offer didn't perform well, I would need to make a tech request to remove it and replace it for something else. Boardwalk Marketing, LLC allowed me to test offers faster and customize each placements easily without the need of tech. Adtech is a wild ride—full of crazy news and even crazier concepts. Here's how I keep up with what's going on: 1. Research: 🔎 Spend 15 minutes a day reading industry articles—my go-to source is ExchangeWire. Their articles, video interviews, and MadTech Sketches are the best. 2. Ask Questions: ❓ Don't hesitate to reach out to people who work in the vertical you're trying to understand. Curious about curation? Send a message to someone in that field on LinkedIn. Networks like AdTech Connect are also great for meeting industry professionals face-to-face. 3. Simplify: 😇 I love finding ways to simplify complex problems. This is where LLMs come in handy. As an observational learner, it can be challenging not seeing the tech in action every day. That’s why I use analogies... Think of SSPs and DSPs like a lemon market. 🍋 - SSP (Supply-Side Platform): The lemon farm wants to sell its lemons, so it uses an SSP to showcase them to buyers. - DSP (Demand-Side Platform): The lemonade stands want the best lemons, so they use a DSP to find and bid on them. - The SSP connects the farm to the right buyers, while the DSP helps buyers find the best lemons at the right price—making the lemon trade efficient for everyone. OpenAI has acquired the domain Chat.com from HubSpot co-founder Dharmesh Shah. Shah had previously purchased the domain for $15.5 million in early 2023. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is Reddit’s third-largest shareholder with an 8.7% stake in the company, revealed in an IPO prospectus filed with U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Reddit reported $804 million in revenue in 2023, mostly advertising. Separately, Reddit signed a $60 million content licensing deal with Google for AI training, despite rivalry between OpenAI backer Microsoft and Google parent Alphabet.
