Turkey is at an important stage regarding the regulation of data transfer abroad within the scope of data protection law and its implementation. With the regulation very similar to the GDPR, companies transferring data abroad now face a legal compliance process that must be adhered to.

The Legal Implications of Digital Transformation on the Evidence System in Saudi Arabia The digital transformation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a significant component of the country's legal future, directly impacting the evidence system in legal cases. With the increasing use of digital evidence and electronic signatures, questions arise about the authenticity of such evidence and its admissibility in courts. The Role of Digital Evidence in Courts Digital evidence has become an integral part of the Saudi evidence system, especially following the adoption of the new Evidence Law in 1443 AH. Digital evidence is defined as "any evidence derived from any data that is generated, sent, received, stored, or communicated by digital means and can be retrieved or accessed in an understandable form" (Evidence Law, Article 53). This includes digital communications, digital records, digital documents, digital signatures, digital communication tools, digital media, and any other form of digital evidence. Electronic Signatures Electronic signatures are a fundamental tool for legitimizing digital documents in Saudi Arabia. According to the Electronic Transactions Law, an electronic signature is defined as "electronic data included in, added to, or logically associated with an electronic transaction, used to verify the identity of the signer and their consent to the transaction" (Electronic Transactions Law, Article 1). Even if an electronic signature does not meet all the necessary conditions, it is considered presumptive evidence. If it meets all the conditions outlined in Article 8 of the Evidence Law, it is deemed admissible as evidence. The Admissibility of Digital Evidence Under the Evidence Law, digital evidence has the same probative value as written evidence, provided it meets legal conditions such as ensuring the integrity and authenticity of digital data (Articles 55 and 56 of the Evidence Law). Conclusion The digital transformation in Saudi Arabia has significantly influenced the evidence system in courts. With the growing recognition of the admissibility of digital evidence and electronic signatures, the legal system's ability to address modern issues arising from the use of technology is increasing. This evolution ensures a robust legal framework that supports digital transformation and enhances justice and transparency in judicial proceedings.

Changes in privacy laws keep a lot of leaders awake as privacy law impacts the business operations, the compliance and legal team and potentially the finance team if the company is fined by the authorities because it didn't respect the new changes of laws. Another layer of intricacies is that the laws often vary from one country to another one and it is not easy for SMEs to keep abreast. We recently discussed the latest changes in privacy law covering the USA, China and Slovenia.
