This post sheds light on the reasons employees leave their jobs, emphasizing that it extends beyond just the nature of the job itself. Key factors that contribute to employee turnover include: - Toxic Work Cultures: Establishing a positive work environment based on respect, trust, and inclusivity is crucial for retaining top talent. - Burnout: Overwhelming workloads and lack of support can lead to burnout. Prioritizing mental health and work-life balance is essential. - Lack of Appreciation: Recognizing and valuing employees is vital. Feeling undervalued can prompt individuals to seek employment elsewhere. - Limited Career Growth: Providing opportunities for professional development and clear career paths can help retain employees seeking advancement. - Poor Work-Life Balance: Flexibility is now a necessity, not a luxury. If personal life is compromised, employees may seek better-balanced options. - Low Pay: Fair compensation is fundamental. Underpaid employees are less likely to remain motivated or loyal long-term. As HR professionals, addressing these issues and fostering workplaces where employees feel respected, supported, and motivated is paramount to enhancing retention rates. #EmployeeRetention #HR #WorkCulture #EmployeeWellbeing #CareerGrowth #Leadership #HRINSIGHTS

What makes candidates stay long term? 🤔 In today's fast-paced job market, retaining top talent is more crucial than ever. But what are the key factors that make candidates stay long term? Let's dive in. First and foremost, a positive company culture is essential. Employees want to feel valued and part of a supportive community. When the workplace fosters collaboration, respect, and recognition, it creates an environment where people want to stay. According to a recent survey by the CIPD, 55% of UK employees cited company culture as a significant factor in their job satisfaction. Career development opportunities also play a vital role. Talented individuals seek growth and learning. Offering clear career progression paths, training programmes, and mentorship can make a huge difference. When employees see a future within the company, they are more likely to stay and invest their efforts. Lastly, work-life balance cannot be overlooked. Flexible working hours, remote work options, and understanding personal commitments contribute to employee well-being. A study by the ONS found that 60% of UK workers value work-life balance as highly as salary. Ensuring your team can balance their professional and personal lives will keep them happier and more productive. #EmployeeRetention #CompanyCulture #CareerDevelopment

While financial incentives are important, they're not the sole determinants of job satisfaction and overall happiness. As the saying goes, “A salary increase makes you happy once a year. A healthy workplace keeps you happy throughout the year.” At Mitie, we understand the profound impact a healthy workplace has on our employees' happiness and productivity. Here’s how we ensure a supportive and positive work environment: Positive Work Environment: We foster a culture of collaboration, respect, and inclusivity, ensuring our employees feel valued and engaged. Work-life Balance: Flexible work schedules, remote work options, and ample vacation time help our employees manage their personal and professional lives effectively. Mental and Physical Health Support: Our comprehensive health and wellness programs include mental health resources, stress management programs, and fitness incentives to maintain our employees' well-being. Career Development Opportunities: We provide continuous learning and professional development opportunities through training programs, workshops, and clear career advancement paths. Effective Communication: We maintain open and transparent communication channels between management and employees to build trust and address concerns promptly. ✋🏼 Are you afraid of losing your best talent? Research shows that talent retention isn't (only) about the money - it's about offering flexibility and purpose. Employees want a deeper connection to their work and the freedom to balance life’s demands. A recent Gallup study reveals that while "Pay/Benefits" is still the most common single reason employees left their jobs in 2023, it was only cited 16% of the time. This means organisations need to focus on different employee needs to prevent the other 84% of departures. Interestingly, four times as many people left their job due to "Engagement and Culture" or "Wellbeing and Work-Life Balance" (69% combined) than for "Pay/Benefits" alone. Especially in the tech industry, where competition for talent is fierce, creating a flexible, purpose-driven work environment is critical for retention. Do you know what your employees really value? #employeeengagement #wellbeing #talentretention #Wellbeing #culture #leadership #futureofwork
