At ADIPEC 2024, we brought energy and technology leaders together to discuss how AI and digital technologies are transforming HSE practices. Moderated by our Chief HSE Officer, Amir Gerges, the strategic panel focused on the pivotal role executive leadership plays in embedding innovation and setting new industry benchmarks for sustainability and operational excellence. #EnergyForLife
We had the privilege of attending Adipec 2024 in Abu Dhabi. This event provided a remarkable opportunity to connect with leaders and innovators in the energy industry. We also delivered our technical presentation on—our proof-of-concept Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for a newly proposed pipeline containment system to mitigate leaks. Our objective is to address the critical need for protecting pipelines in vulnerable areas, ensuring that environmental impacts are minimized. The presentation provided an opportunity to share detailed insights of our FEA analysis and results, which assesses the containment system’s ability to withstand demanding operating pressures. Through extensive simulations, we explored the mechanical performance of non-isotropic materials, such as polyurea and carbon fiber, demonstrating how these high-strength, lightweight materials contribute to the containment system resilience . We are grateful to our colleagues from the pipelines integrity teams at ADNOC Group (both onshore and offshore) for their presence and invaluable feedback. Their insights have been instrumental in refining our approach, and their encouragement reinforces our dedication to pushing the boundaries of pipeline integrity management.

1moIt is critical that more manufacturers consider integrating IoT technologies into their operations in order to increase productivity, and protect employees in the future.By collecting real-time data, IoT technologies allow for immediate detection of unsafe conditions, triggering automated responses .Wearable IoT devices can monitor workers' vital signs and exposure to harmful elements, alerting them to potential health risks before they escalate into serious issues.Wearable IoT devices in industrial settings have evolved to become health monitoring tools and can take the form of wristbands, badges, or even smart clothing, are equipped with an array of sensors that monitor various physiological and environmental parameters.Wearables offer powerful solutions for proximity detection to enhance worker safety.Their integration in high-precision tracking systems allows for centimetre-level accuracy in determining the positions of workers’ equipment and potential hazards, creating dynamic safe zones around machinery or hazardous areas. If a worker enters a danger zone, the system can trigger immediate alerts, automatically slow down or stop equipment, or activate protective barriers. IoT can also enhance equipment safety and maintenance.
