I'm currently looking for a DevOps Engineer with strong Linux Administration experience and I've had numerous conversations with potential candidates - many of whom have unfortunately been a little too junior, or wanting to take their first step into a DevOps role. Although not suitable for this role, I've tried to guide them into how they can make their profile more attractive and discussed the skills that employers are currently looking for when hiring a DevOps Engineer, so thought I would share it in a post too! ☁️1) Cloud Proficiency: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is essential. Companies are leveraging the power of the cloud to drive scalability and efficiency. 🔄2) CI/CD Expertise: Understanding and implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines is critical for rapid and reliable software delivery. ✅3) Containerisation: Skills in Docker and Kubernetes are highly sought after for their ability to streamline application deployment and management. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in tools like Terraform and Ansible allows for efficient, automated infrastructure management. 💻4) Scripting & Automation: Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate workflows and reduce manual intervention. 🗣️5) Collaboration & Communication: Soft skills are just as important. The ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts is invaluable. #DevOps #AWS #Azure #GCP #Linux #Ansible #Terraform #Docker #Kubernetes
