Keeping AM radio in vehicles shouldn't just be a priority for broadcasters. It is a safety concern for everyone. When the cell networks go down or are overwhelmed, AM radio is there to fill in the communication gaps. NAB has made this a top priority in 2024. Urge your Congressmen and women to support the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act.
Safeguarding AM Radio In Vehicle Dashboards Tops NAB Policy Priorities.

Via The Hustle: From the Super Bowl halftime show to the Oscars, many of us grew up on awards shows and other live TV events. And without realizing it, we've grown used to the sweeping drop of the camera in front of a news anchor or the way it soars through a crowd during a concert. There's a specific look and feel that we've come to expect while watching events like these. Live events weren't always captured this way. In fact, there is a specific time in history when this aesthetic became possible, and our TV-watching experience was never the same again. In this video, we dive into the history, technology, and mastery behind the camera moves that have shaped television as we know it. We meet the people who’ve built their legacy on this aesthetic as we go behind the scenes to understand its origins, its purpose, and how the way a camera moves has so much to do with the way it makes us feel. #videoproduction #filmmaker #filmmaking #television #tv #televisionproduction #tvproduction #cameracrew #cameragear #cameraoperator #broadcasting #liveevents #corporatevideo

New from me: At a recent panel on the future of the UHF band speakers put forward different visions of the future of 470—694 MHz. Late last year at the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23), the UHF band held on to its primary broadcast service allocation. In Europe, current regulations protect the band for broadcasting use until at least 2030. What happens after this date, however, has not yet been decided. Panellists at a recent panel agreed that countries would have differing requirements in the future. Jonas Wessel, Director of the Resource Management Department at the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS), said that although the current state of terrestrial broadcasting in Sweden is stable, the country is moving towards a scenario in 2033 where many broadcasters will eventually migrate out of the UHF band. Meanwhile, Jaume Pujol, who chairs the Working Policy Group of BROADCAST NETWORKS EUROPE, a group that represents terrestrial operators, presented his vision of the UHF band as a “European Cultural Band”. He said the broadcasting industry is investing in various technologies to improve image and sound quality. Pujol mentioned Spain and France, where he said broadcasters were already regularly broadcasting in ultra-high definition (UHD). https://lnkd.in/ePnG5gPQ

We've made it to the 1980s! Did you guess correctly what we accomplished during this decade? During the 1980s, FM radio became the new and improved alternative to AM, eliminating the scratchy frequency and becoming the listener's choice when turning on their vehicle radios and stereos! CEC led the new FM radio market during this decade, ultimately contributing to the widespread FM takeover and hours of smooth listening. What do you remember hearing on the radio in the 80s? #CEC #FMRadio #AMRadio
