Do mobile health researchers engage with digital rights? Not really, it turns out. Our recent scoping review highlights a significant lack of acknowledgement and discussion of crucial digital rights topics in mHealth research in Southeast Asian low- and middle-income countries. https://lnkd.in/gR65BhA4 #HumanRights #DigitalHealth #Privacy #mHealth University of Sydney Brain and Mind Centre Leiden University Eduard Fosch Villaronga Haley LaMonica Ian Hickie AO

Its integral that we in the healthcare ecosystem pay close attention to what is happening with TikTok. Like it or not, TikTok is quickly becoming the number 1 place Gen Z goes for health information, and its not just the youngins. 59M US citizens turn to TikTok for health information BEFORE and INSTEAD OF going to a doctor. For better or for worse TikTok and social media are now just as integral a part of our healthcare systems. That's one of the main reasons I am so passionate and steadfast in building my company, FeelBetr. If we don't create alternative platforms for people to go to then we will remain beholden to trusting the truth of TikTok information. That's why we need the first health focused social network created by chronically ill women, for chronically ill women to close the women's data gap. We know that tech is not neutral - it was created by men, for men - which has serious consequences. We know that despite all the knowledge we think we have only 1% of all medical research (literally in the history of time, globally) is on women who don't have cancer. We need SOLUTIONS for the 67M chronically ill women in the United States. Despite the dangers of social media its important to recognize that it has unbelievable value that can't be found anywhere else. TikTok's popularity has met a gaping need in our healthcare system. It has given POWER BACK TO THE PATIENT. It has allowed for access to medical information and knowledge long denied to anyone who couldn't afford or access to or enter our current system. Social networks allow for health literacy and teach patient advocacy more effectively than anything else that exists. If you believe women's health is broken and needs to be solved, that chronically ill women are one of the most marginalized populations in HC, that there is immense power in social media and genuine potential if used correctly then shoot me a message and let's talk about how my company is the solution you have been looking for. https://lnkd.in/eVuK3yEY
The House votes for possible TikTok ban in the US, but don't expect the app to go away anytime soon

UNESCO AI is NOTHING but a bundle of applications of US anti-human military C4ISR. Yes, artificial intelligence (AI) can do many things, but NOT everything. With our intellectual property (IP), we are doing what ChatGPT, an icon of AI, can NOT do. Without metadata, especially multilingual metadata, NO multilingual data can be found/retrieved for intelligence analysis, Internet of Things (IoT), etc., even by the most advanced technologies, like AI, quantum computers, etc. https://lnkd.in/g-aJFnXR When we used the following questions to test ChatGPT, the experiment results showed that it can NOT answer them, while we can, with our IP; for example, a pure English question like: "Who, in England of UK, has new US patents granted on February 20, 2024?" or a Chinese-English multilingual question like: "Who, in the '湖北' province of mainland China, has new US patents granted on February 20, 2024?" Our IP is a copyrighted multilingual metadata. It can distill real time (2024.02.20) information about US patent holding/holder, based on the multilingual census geographical locations of Canada, mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Middle East (Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE) and Europe (Austria, Germany, Switzerland, UK).
Social media platforms and #AI are contributing to the spread of various forms of discrimination and gender-based violence that occurs or is amplified by the use of technology. Women journalists are particularly vulnerable as primary targets, facing campaigns of online violence. UNESCO actively works to safeguard women’s freedom of expression & to promote their voices in the media sector. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ebvfYBBv

Sorensen makes the argument for health literacy as a human rights concern (Sorensen K, 2024), by applying a human rights framework. The author references the Constitution of the World Health Organization: “The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition (WHO, 1948).” Sorensen makes a further connection that if health is a fundamental right of every human being, then their ability to access health information and make informed decisions (i.e. health literacy) is a human rights concern. To attain health equity in the U.S., we must first acknowledge health as a fundamental right. And if health is a fundamental right, so is health insurance.

This timely Lancet article by Susan Jaffe offers a detailed analysis of three key health issues shaping the U.S. presidential race: reproductive rights, the future of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and Medicare reform. Despite these issues’ impact on millions of Americans, health has surprisingly taken a back seat in this election campaign, with abortion/reproductive rights as the only exception gaining significant attention. As Harris and Trump present starkly different visions, the article explores what their policies could mean for the future of American health and health care access. https://lnkd.in/esfTtpMB Being a Brit and totally objective about the election, let me just say: Go Kamala Harris!

The social, behavioral, and cultural traditions associated with gender impact how people access and use health services and information. So how can we design gender-intentional digital health programs? We partnered with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance to create the Gender-Intentional Digital Health Rapid Guide, which supports the prioritization of gender analyses in #digitalhealth intervention planning. With practical tools like checklists and templates, this guide is designed to help countries & health systems move towards digital health programming that promotes #equity, #diversity, and #inclusion for all users. The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children Campaign (16 Days Campaign) is a United Nations campaign which takes place annually from 25 November (International Day of No Violence against Women) to 10 December (International Human Rights Day). As we are in the middle of 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children Campaign between 25 November and 10 December 2024 under the theme: “30 Years of Advancing Collective Action to End Violence Against Women and Children, Mediwell, a women inspired company, one of the most women empowered companies, sought to utilize tech innovation to combat this scourge of GBV. A platform has since been developed to mitigate GBV in totality. The digital platform is still at an MVP stage. To this end, we seek to collaborate with funders & tech companies & like minded companies to advance & scale up this platform to a high level in order to mitigate this GBV scourge. The platform will coordinate integrated preventive, proactive & GBV care to women & children. "*I've led and participated in many marches for the past thirty years and I think now is the time to add other tactics to tackle GBV with tech innovations*" Dr Maggie Mojapelo - founder of Mediwell says as doctors & medics , we always see the painful sequelae of GBV- burns, bruises, abrasions, near strangulation, emotional & mental burnout & throughour Amari.health platform, & in some worst cases with fatalities like suicide & death - as it has been painfully witnessed in the past months & years. In line with the theme of collectively advancing the course of no violence against women and children, the time to execute to end this scourge on women & children is now! Thus, invitations for collective action & execution through tech innovation are hereby extended: Whatsapp 083 825 2676 or [email protected] cc [email protected] End...
