I'm on the pursuit of knowing less. Less? yes, less. But why? Because more is too much. Being a company leader requires pulling yourself out of the weeds. Either you drive yourself crazy trying to know everything, or you learn how to delegate and know less. Starting a business from scratch virtually always means doing a lot of things yourself. Been there, doing that. But it's not sustainable, especially if you want to grow. Then what do you need to do? Hire people. DELEGATE. Everyone talks about delegation but what does it really mean? In my view, you are only truly delegating if you don't know everything and are putting some level of trust in that person. If you do know everything, you are just offloading some tasks, not truly delegating. The purpose of delegating is not just to free up your minutes. The main value is freeing up your mindspace. That's a whole lot more valuable than just the time it takes to do a task. Once you acknowledge that your attention and capacity are mostly finite, the tradeoff that must occur to properly delegate is a comfort with knowing less. Pretty soon I'm going to know less than all of you!

This is brilliant! Trying to know everything and do everything just isn't sustainable and only limits you in the end. Plus, when you delegate tasks, it's showing your team that you trust them, you have confidence in their skills and abilities, and it empowers them to grow.
