As many of you know, for Jews, in the year following the death of a parent, we have an obligation to say the Kaddish prayer for our departed parent during our daily prayers. Tonight I was at the Palace of Westminster to celebrate Chanukah, firstly with the All party parliamentary group on anti semitism in Westminster Hall and then followed with the Speaker of the House of Commons in his apartment, also in the Palace of Westminster. I was able to organise a Jewish service and say the Kaddish prayer in Westminster Hall. I wonder if it is the first time there has been a minyan there? My dad would have loved that.
Gorgeous. In 1982, I said Shabbat morning prayers in the balcony of NUS Conference in Margate while left-wing extremists in the hall below were chanting "Jews out" in response to a speech by Dr Fathi Arafat (Yasser Arafat's brother).
