In what kind of humane world do schools, universities, corporate workplaces, and governments discourage people from speaking up against the inhuman, greed-driven genocide? Every reason given by the occupying regime, from hidden tunnels to Arabic calendars hosting extremist plans, has been proven false. Bombing mosques, schools, churches, hospitals, and the claims of hidden tunnels have all been exposed as lies, merely excuses to bomb the innocent.
In what world do we punish those who stand against a brutal apartheid regime, one that steals homes and lands from people and enforces oppression? We are told to fear speaking out, with the threat of job losses looming over us.
So I ask, will be it be acceptable to turn a blind eye when Russia commits genocide in Ukraine? Which to date even the not so nice guy Putin hasn't been that evil to commit such crimes, mass graves of buried people alive, hands tide and tortured including children!
This is not a moment for sanctimonious self-righteousness. It is a time to be ethical, unbiased, and to stand firmly against the genocide in Gaza.
We must stand against injustice and speak out against all forms of oppression, regardless of the consequences. What if it was you or I facing a dire situation, and no one spoke up for us because a recruiter or employer scanning LinkedIn deemed it unfit?
If you have pets, you understand the love and compassion we feel for animals. So why should saving an animal in Gaza be any less important than advocating for animals back home?
If you adore children, you recognize the innocence and vulnerability they possess. Then why are children in Gaza, Sudan, or Syria and alike considered any less deserving of our protection and advocacy?
If you respect and love your parents and grandparents endlessly, you cherish the wisdom and experiences they impart. Then why should these individuals in Gaza and other places have to endure hardships akin to Nakbas throughout their entire lives?
Let us use our voices and platforms to speak out against injustice and stand up for those who need it most, regardless of where they are in the world.
