Friends and contacts in and outside of the live industry, Please find some time to check out THIS conversation Michael Rapino shared with Bloomberg last week. It’s worth a watch or a listen if you have the time. Do it for me. Do it to better understand so much that continues to be misunderstood about the industry. The interview covers the core challenges of the live entertainment and ticketing industry and addresses so much that continues to be misunderstood about how ticketing works. The candid and wide-ranging discussion covers topics such as… -- Dynamic pricing and why a secondary market continues to exist and thrive. -- The exhaustive efforts Ticketmaster takes on and the solutions we build out to ensure fans have the best opportunity to purchase tickets to see their favorite artists, events and teams -- ….and how sometimes, despite those best efforts, BOTS attacks and other bad actors do all they can to break that artist to fan connection for their own gain in the most public of ways. -- The Live Nation Entertainment DOJ lawsuit and legislation we continue to push and attempt to educate legislators about how this actually all works and how we can use the help to continue cleaning up the live event industry to better improve how artists and teams can better connect with their fans -- Global expansion, touring and opportunities to help artists and teams and brands to better capture the explosive growth of their reach. Its worth a listen/watch.

Live Nation Entertainment published its latest financial results yesterday, and there were a couple of topics of interest in the company’s quarterly earnings call. First: superfans. “We’ve been selling to the superfan for quite a while. We call that the premium fan that wants a VIP experience at the show, so that’s kinda been an ongoing skillset we’ve had forever,” said CEO Michael Rapino in response to an analyst question. “We see that pie [as] still under-serviced. We’ve used percentages in the past: two, four, six per cent of the show is premium. We think it can grow up to 20% and more.” Rapino outlined one part of Live Nation’s strategy: “taking regular seats and turning them into better experiences for premium experiences that night” when refurbishing its venues, while for new venues “starting with this mandate that they must have a certain higher percentage of premium seats and lounges and experiences”. “We think premium experiences is a big underpin to our entire growth forward because it’s using the same customer base, but we always sell out the boxes, sell out the premium inventory first. We never have a problem selling that,” added Rapino. Read The Full Story Here: https://lnkd.in/dTwxPtfa #musically #musicnews #readmore

Bob Dylan has announced a 10-date UK tour kicking off in November – with shows in Bournemouth, Nottingham, and Wolverhampton. Here’s the kicker – when you get there, you’ll have to switch off your phone and then put it in a locked pouch (so no sneaking it out!). Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz) has a different take to Dylan, insisting that fans are less likely to go on their phones if you’re engaging with them in the right way: https://lnkd.in/esN3ZZZv Coincidentally, this debate has been on my mind a lot recently. While at Wimbledon the other week, I noticed more phones than ever being held up during play – the Members were not amused! 😂🎾 These days, it’s no longer just about being there and getting the T-Shirt. You need to be there and take the photo, video or stream it live on Instagram – making sure everyone knows you’re part of it 📱 There’s definitely something to be said for user-generated content – people value authenticity in the digital age. I’m all for getting a souvenir snapshot or video clip of an event too (yup, that's me posing BEFORE play began on Centre Court!) The problem is people filming chunks or even entire events – and sometimes even obscuring the view of others in the process. 🤳 What happened to living in the moment? It’s surely better than a grainy video you probably won’t even re-watch once the event’s over. And if you do want to relive your favourite music and sporting moments, leave the filming to the professionals. They’ve got the gear to capture these events in high-definition and quality audio, from a range of angles. Who knows – you might even spot yourself in the crowd! #liveislife #playerplus #livemusic #livesport #events #capture #streaming

EVENT SECURITY This is an example of how to secure your event. Multiagency coordination on intelligence and operations leads to a thwarted plot and no one being harmed.
