The European Forum for Primary Care (EFPC) is issuing an urgent call to strengthen person-centred, community-oriented, and integrated care systems across Europe. The EFPC, a network of over 100 primary care providers, researchers, and policymakers from 33 European countries, is dedicated to improving population health through equitable, sustainable, and collaborative primary care services. With the upcoming appointment of a new EU Commissioner for Health, the EFPC stresses that this new leader will face pressing challenges: demographic changes, preparedness for emergencies like pandemics and environmental crises, advancements in science and technology, mental health crises, health inequities, and workforce shortages in the healthcare sector. To address these challenges, the EFPC encourages the Commissioner to focus on achieving the "Quintuple Aim," which includes: 1. Improving care for individuals. 2. Enhancing population health. 3. Maximizing the value of available resources. 4. Ensuring healthcare providers' well-being. 5. Promoting social justice and inclusion. The EFPC advocates for healthcare reform that fosters interdisciplinary teams working closely with the community, which is proven to be cost-effective and essential for improving population health. The EFPC urges the European Union to carefully consider the qualifications and expertise required in appointing a new Commissioner for Health, as this individual will be crucial in leading essential healthcare reforms. The selected commissioner must have a deep understanding of health, wellbeing, healthcare organization, and social inequities, and possess the ability to collaborate across sectors within the EU. Strong leadership is essential to guide and support governments, organizations, professionals, and citizens who are striving to improve healthcare systems. The EFPC is committed to supporting this vision, working hand-in-hand with the EU to ensure that healthcare remains affordable, accessible, and high quality for all, ensuring no one is left behind. #Value innovation and delivery have to be based on #trust. To some extent #PCP may be trusted most because of the personalities and value systems that are drawn to this specialty. At the same time, assessment of trust by individuals presumably is driven mostly by #trustworthiness demonstrated empirically in an interpersonal #relationship over time that almost by definition is grounded in #shared understanding of lived experience. We need new business models and best practices that enable #healthcare to be continually #situated idiosyncratically in the place, pace, and purpose of a patient’s life. This potential extends far beyond what is formally recognized as healthcare and certainly beyond the institutional instantiations of sick care.
Amid declining trust in major institutions since the COVID-19 pandemic, most people still trust primary care clinicians for health info. Investing in comprehensive, community-based primary care can help rebuild trust in health care. It's time to act. https://lnkd.in/equA_Mcz

Code G2211 was created to recognize the importance of trust and longitudinal relationships in healthcare. Trust moves the needle. Why are carriers “bundling” these payments as if trust should be taken for granted?

Listening to the insightful Dr Fadhila Mazanderani, Prof Ellen Stewart and Dr James Munro on the recent Care Opinion UK research chat; Beyond cards and complaints. Particularly interesting is what the research is saying as to why consumers choose to share feedback publicly, and the overwhelmingly good intent behind this action. Just a few of these reasons are: - To say thank you and express gratitude of the care received - Motivated by strong commitment to the health service (NHS) - Wanting positive change; feedback for care improvement - Saw feedback as a form of care improvement - Wanting their positive feedback to be seen by those 'higher up' i.e. policy makers - To inform other patients and their families - Simply by putting feedback out there, it would help improve care and communication Listen and learn via the Care Opinion UK website: Research chat 23: Beyond cards and complaints | Care Opinion
