At Brasil Ceras, we believe the future of carnauba lies in empowering people and fostering knowledge. Through our Carnauba for Education and Biodiversity project, we’re investing in the next generation of harvesters and their families by offering scholarships for technical courses in agriculture and livestock, in partnership with specialized institutions. The goal is to inspire young people to recognize the potential of carnauba, encouraging them to expand their knowledge to improve the industry and lead positive transformations in their communities. With better techniques, safer practices, and a stronger focus on sustainability, these generations will be equipped to drive the future of carnauba in innovative and responsible ways. In addition to courses on the Carnauba Supply Chain, students learn organic farming techniques and sustainable practices, taking this knowledge back to their families and peers, creating a ripple effect of positive change throughout the supply chain. By investing in these young leaders, we’re planting the seeds for a future filled with innovation and responsibility in the carnauba industry. Until the creation of the Amazon Bioeconomy and Conservation Center there were a lack in the Amazon region regarding areas were you could find researches concentrated about reforestation. Today you can find in one single place, natural regeneration, forest total planting with different densities, agroforestry systems and "muvuca" (seeds sowing) . Reforestation methods for different purposes such as food production, silviculture and public policy implementation thanks to the partnership among Centro de Estudos Rioterra, Santo Antônio Energia and Instituto Amazônia+21. In the next weeks you will find in our social media partners who are cooperating with reforestation in the Amazon region.

Very insightful factsheet on #monitoring in #agroforestry systems. This represents a first step towards structuring the monitoring of agroforestry systems in the #Netherlands 🌳🤓💪

Representing CCARBON/USP, Jessica Suarez Campoli participated in a special event at ESALQ/USP! On August 28, 2024, Jessica Suarez Campoli attended a key meeting with a delegation from the Colombian Government, fostering dialogue and knowledge exchange between Brazil and Colombia in the field of tropical agriculture. 🌍🤝 The delegation aimed to present the "Soy-Corn: National Project", a collaborative initiative bringing together business leaders and union representatives from partner countries. This project focuses on promoting agro-industrial development by encouraging the rotation of soy and corn cultivation in the Altillanura sub-region of Orinoquía, Colombia. The main objectives are to reduce dependency on imports, create quality rural employment, and contribute to the socioeconomic progress and food security of the region. This initiative presents a strategic opportunity to strengthen alliances and transform the corn and soy sector in Colombia. By fostering knowledge sharing, it creates spaces for dialogue and permanent collaboration across the value chain of these crops. Delegation representatives emphasized that only through collective efforts can the prosperity and well-being of Colombia be achieved. The event gathered government authorities, agricultural experts, and sustainability leaders, including governors from various Colombian regions and representatives from Brazilian agricultural companies and academic institutions. 🌾🚜 Key topics discussed included tropical agriculture productivity, sustainable livestock practices, and the impact of agricultural practices on climate change. ☀💧 Jessica Suarez Campoli highlighted CCARBON/USP’s contributions to research, innovation, and scientific dissemination, emphasizing the center's role in driving climate and sustainable solutions for the agribusiness sector. 🐄🌳 We are proud to be part of this important initiative! #SustainableAgriculture #CCARBONUSP #InternationalCollaboration #ESALQ #USP #TropicalAgriculture #SoyCornProject #ClimateSolutions #Agronomia #Agricultura #Pecuária #MeioAmbiente #Ciência #Pesquisa #Sustentabilidade

🇵🇹 Akuo awarded Portugal's first agrivoltaics project! 🍏 Within the framework of the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), Akuo and its partners including Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária, IP (INIAV, IP) will collaborate on the FruitPV project, located in Alcobaça. This experimental program aims to combine #solarenergy and #agriculture to create sustainable solutions beneficial for both the environment and local farming. 🔍 With over 15 years of experience in agrivoltaics worldwide, and collaboration with Agriterra Group, we will implement and monitor agrivoltaics solutions specifically tailored to the cultivation of Fuji apple trees. Our goal is to find the most efficient and sustainable solutions that can be replicated on a larger scale. Such a program is a tangible input to the agricultural and energy sovereignty of Portugal, so as to make the best of constrained land. #Akuo #Agrivoltaics #Sustainability #Innovation

Carla Sarrouy Kay from the ORFC will be hosting a roundtable discussion tomorrow at the 10th International Congress on Agroecology, titled 'Stronger together: building a robust network of agroecological knowledge-sharing event organisers'. The fantastic panel comes from four different countries, four different organisations, and four different languages and experiences! The objectives of the conversation are: (1) to connect professionals organising agroecological knowledge-sharing events across the globe; (2) to share experiences and learn from different approaches, goals, and scales. And, ultimately, (3) to debate on how to best share agroecological knowledge across different realms.
Participatory Researcher, Facilitator, Consultant | Agroecology, Resilient Food Systems, and Storytelling
This week I'm attending the 10th International Congress on Agroecology, to be held in Viseu, Portugal on the 3-6 September. I can't wait to go back to the country where I lived the first 21 years of my life (ai saudade!) and to learn more about what Portugal and many more countries are doing about agroecological knowledge sharing! I've organised a roundtable to be held on Day 1 titled "Stronger together: building a robust network of agroecological knowledge-sharing event organisers". Its fantastic panel comes from four different countries, four different organisations, and four different languages and experiences! Inês Costa Pereira, from the organising committee of the 10th International Congress on Agroecology, Escola Superior Agrária de Viseu (Portugal) Boglárka Bozsogi, Agroecology Europe Association and Emergent Generation (Belgium) Ángela Garrote Cortínez, Wageningen University & Research, with experience of student mobilisation for La Via Campesina in Argentina (The Netherlands) Carla Sarrouy Kay, Oxford Real Farming Conference, Real Farming Trust (UK) Find out more about the congress here: https://lnkd.in/ejBavzM2 See you there! Stronger together: building a robust network of agroecological knowledge-sharing event organisers The damages caused by chemical-dependent industrial agriculture have been felt and proven around the globe. Agroecology — as a science, a practice and a movement — has the potential to counteract this destruction and to work with nature to produce healthy food systems. The Agroecological Movement is gaining support around the world from grassroots peasant organisations to universities and other centres of learning. However, there is as yet little collaboration between those organising the growing number of events for agroecological knowledge-sharing, and this is complicated by differences in scale and focus of the events. The objectives of this round table are threefold: (1) to connect professionals organising agroecological knowledge-sharing events across the globe; (2) to share experiences and learn from different approaches, goals, and scales. And, ultimately, (3) to debate on how to best share agroecological knowledge across different realms. This exchange and networking event is relevant to discuss the best tools and ways forward to walk the talk and support the development of a strong global Agroecological Movement.
