ACROCOMIA 🌴: 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Did you know that the Acrocomia palm grows in a very broad variety of climate settings? The palm grows in semi-arid, sub-humid, and humid climates of the Americas in areas with high solar radiation☀️ and can cope with dry periods. Some species are adapted to seasonal rainfall 🌧️ and temperatures from 15 to 35 °C, and low elevations ranging from 150 to 1000 m altitude. Can be found on various soil types and biomes, being more abundant in dry areas, although it also grows on sandy soils with low fertility. This includes also disturbed areas like secondary forests and degraded grasslands🌳 The AcroAlliance project 🌴 seeks to identify the best setting for the Acrocomia cultivation and sustainable production. Our partners in Southern Spain, AlVelAl, have once again (!) received verification under Preferred by Nature's Ecosystem Restoration Standard! Since its foundation in 2015, AlVelAl has been at the forefront of pioneering natural restoration and regenerative agriculture in south-eastern Spain 🇪🇸 The AlVelAl territory spans over 1 million hectares and aims to restore more than 10,000 hectares of natural forests by 2026, creating a vast green corridor to support biodiversity. 🌈 In addition to this ambitious restoration goal, AlVelAl also manage 3 successful business cases: La Almendrehesa , which commercialises almonds and dried fruits, and Habitat , known for its extra virgin olive oil. Additionally, ALVELAL Foods offers various conscious products produced within the same territory, all rooted in regenerative agriculture. 👨🌾 The Preferred by Nature audit involved field tests and interviews, affirming AlVelAl’s ongoing efforts and highlighting areas for continuous improvement. This rigorous process is crucial to ensure that the project remains on track to achieve its long-term goals. 🚀 We are immensely proud of AlVelAl's continued success and its impactful contributions to holistic landscape restoration - and we remain dedicated to supporting their transformative journey towards creating resilient ecosystems. #LandscapeRestoration #SustainableFarming #RegenerativeAgriculture

In Colombia’s South Pacific region, the transition from #ArmedConflict to #PeaceBuilding has underscored the critical role of #SustainableFarming practices and #AlternativeDevelopment. This area, traditionally dominated by illicit crops and inhabited by vulnerable Afro-Colombian communities, faces unique challenges and opportunities. Read more in the recent research and share with us your thoughts and insights 👀 👇 #SustainableDevelopment #SocialCohesion #IllicitCropSubstitution #RuralDevelopment #Research
We are excited to share a research paper on enhancing socio-ecological restoration in post-conflict Southern #Colombia through sustainable #CacaoFarming. This study explores how post-conflict regions in Southern Colombia, particularly Afro-Colombian communities, can achieve #EnvironmentalSustainability and social stability. Cacao farming offers a #sustainablealternative to illicit crops and promotes ecological and socio-economic recovery. Key Findings: 🔹 Cacao agroforestry reduces deforestation and promotes forest restoration. 🔹 Cacao farming provides a legal and sustainable income source, helping communities move away from illicit crops. 🔹 Peace processes and supportive policies are crucial for successful sustainable farming transitions. 🌿🎉 Today we celebrate 32 years of innovation and conservation with #LIFE and Natura 2000. At LIFE NextFumigreen, we are proud to contribute to this legacy, promoting the use of natural biopesticides in greenhouses. 🐝🌱 Our commitment to sustainable development and biodiversity is unwavering. Thanks to the EU's LIFE Programme, we continue to make progress towards greener and healthier agriculture. 🌍💚 🙌 This LIFE project, led by FUMI-HOGAR, in collaboration with B&B ASESORES, Centro Tecnológico Tecnova, Comercial Química Massó , BrioAgro España and FINNOVA FOUNDATION (EU), is 60% co-financed by the LIFE Programme of the European Union. It lasts four and a half years and aims to improve food security and biodiversity. In addition, it contributes to the awareness, training and professionalization of farmers in the use of biopesticides for fumigation. 🌾🐝 📎 Want to know more? The memo mentions that - "Promoting the bioeconomy is important for the competitiveness and success of the whole EU". I am knee deep in - working with Irish stakeholders on a variety of bioeconomy opportunities and the more I do the more I realise the simplicity and elegance of leveraging these types of solutions. Don't let the word simple confuse you into thinking they lack in innovation, in fact it is just the opposite as technology is driving and underpinning the approaches. You should all definitely get onboard with the Bioeconomy!

🌍 🐞 The UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) describes biodiversity as “the diversity within species, between species, and of ecosystems, including plants, animals, bacteria, and fungi. These three levels work together to create life on Earth in all its complexity.” 🌱 At ProFound, we see regenerative agriculture and the implementation, management, and creation of sustainable practices as the path forward in agriculture that can also stop biodiversity loss and help nature recover. 🌳 ♨ 👩🌾 One of the projects that comes to mind while commemorating the International Day for Biodiversity is the Tea Garden project we worked with in Sri Lanka some while ago. On that occasion, together with Both ENDS and Rainforest Rescue, we supported a private tea estate and a tea cooperative to produce tea in a forest garden system! Such an exciting project. 🙌 “Together with ProFound, we transformed a tea plantation into a forest garden production (...) providing food and income to communities, improving soils and the quality of the tea.” Shared Ranil Senanayake (Rainforest Rescue International) after the culmination of the project. 🐝 🐛 Over the past thirty years, we’ve worked with farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, non-government organizations, and actors in the value chain who share our beliefs. We are confident that, if action is taken, biodiversity loss can decrease. This is partly the inspiration behind the soon-to-be movement, ReGen55!, which we are developing in partnership with AGREA Agricultural Systems . #ThisIsProFound #AdvisersInDevelopment #ReGen55! #BiodiversityDay #BePartOfThePlan #SustainableFuture #UnEnviromentProgramme #BiodiversityPlan
