Financial inclusion is so often missed in recruitment processes (and workplaces generally). Even when reimbursement of travel expenses for interviews is offered, it still may not be enough for people who don't have the funds available upfront to begin with. #EquitableRecruitment #FinancialInclusion

I had an interview in London this week, and there was one thing I didn’t give a second thought to👇 💷 How I’d pay to get there. And it had me remembering… Flash back to 15 years ago when I’d just graduated and I could ONLY attend interviews that would reimburse my travel. I remember declining opportunities because I just couldn’t afford to get there. So if you’re hiring, here’s a reminder - 👏 Generic ‘we encourage applications from all backgrounds’ are great… 👏 Talking about #SocialMobility and saying you’re an equal opportunities employer is great… 👉 BUT sentiments don’t pay for train tickets, taxis or fuel… This is your invite to get proactive about your reimbursement policy for interview and communicate it early. Don’t make the poor kids have to ask - it feels embarrassing. Does your organisation support #SocialMobility? What initiatives do you have in place, tell me in the comments 👇👇👇 Image - Me, my partner and baby on the train home. I’m still breastfeeding so interviewing is that little bit harder these days… 😂💤😭 but we did it! The 93% Club Speak Out Revolution Valued Recruitment #Inclusion #Equality
