President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, It is good to see a people sensitive administration emerge. You have done well to assure all communities that they will be no lesser or greater Sri Lankans than any other. In seeking to be sensitive to people, care must be taken to ensure that only the interests of some stakeholders are not given ear to. A holistic view must be taken and the interests of as many stakeholders as possible are safeguarded, sustainably. The Ruhunu University saga where the ouster of a strong administrator (Vice Chancellor) has been called for by unions is of concern. It is good that an effort has been made to diffuse the situation through the appointment of a Competent Authority. However, unruly students who engaged in indisciplined conduct cannot be made victors. Any action by the government to undermine the authority of an official without a proper investigation and following due process will not align with the culture of meritocracy, fairness and justice that your party declared it would uphold when elected.
