I loved this episode. Rachel and I got to talk about the Yoruba talking drums, which are pitched drums that have been in use for centuries to "speak" a highly tonal language over distances of miles. We got all the way up to the development of the telegraph, telephone, and early radios. You don't have real-time analytics without the Internet and smartphones, and you don't have those things without telecom. This is a history worth tracing as we draw together the historical threads that result in, well, StarTree, Apache Pinot and, the #rtasummit itself. Speaking of which—segue of segues!—you should register for the Real-Time Analytics Summit now, and message me if you want to save some money on that. https://rtasummit.com
Explore the history of telecommunication from battle drums to the radio in today's episode of Keyboard and Quill ⌨️🪶 The way we communicate with each other has drastically changed over the last 200 years. In the third episode of our narrative podcast, Keyboard and Quill, you join hosts Tim Berglund (StarTree) and Rachel Pedreschi (claritype) on a journey through thousands of years of history to explore how we got from drums to morse code or from the radio to the 5G smartphone 📱 Subscribe and listen on your favorite podcast platform: https://lnkd.in/e8fPt_id or YouTube: https://lnkd.in/ez6QEqFg Through June 4th, a new episode will be released each week, unwrapping new layers of history that have led us to today's data-powered society. My favorite podcast, My First Million, always talks about one-chart businesses. Businesses you know will be successful just by looking at one chart. Today marks Juneteenth National Independence Day, a federal holiday in the United States since 2021. It is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate ending slavery in the United States. Holidays are big business in the US, so I'm curious what new businesses are being built around Juneteenth... #Juneteenth #GoogleTrends #Trends

There was a group of workmen standing on the street earlier as I drove past. They were blocking the path. A young woman runner approached and they all stepped off the pavement to let her through. There’s always another side to a conversation. Whether you want to see it or not. You can’t have the bad without acknowledging the good. #EmbraceYourShitness #TheBullshitDetectivePodcast #Podcast _________________________________________________ 👋 I do a PODCAST! 👉🏻 Follow me for insights through the medium of PODCASTS! 🎙️ This is an episode not to be missed! Our co-founders, Charlie Bresler, PhD and Peter Singer, speak about how it all started on the Musings Podcast. Learn about the origins of our organization, sparked by the book written by Peter, The Life You Can Save. Charlie and Peter muse about the nature of giving, exploring how personal history and psychology influence our actions towards those in need. Their conversation navigates societal norms and the concept of "diffusion of responsibility." Think you know who the average podcast listener is? Think again. Massive hat tip to Edison Research for their superb 2024 Podcast Consumer report deep dive that surprised us with 🤯 stats like: - Women listen to more podcast episodes weekly than men in the US - The Joe Rogan Experience had the second highest reach of all podcasts amongst US female weekly listeners - Nearly a third of US kids aged 6 to 12 listen to a podcast every month We love data that challenges our assumptions about audiences and what they're into. #data #statoftheweek #audienceresearch #breakthebias #eartotheground #podcasts
