🚗 Jebel Ali’s Automotive Boom Amid Red Sea Challenges 🚗 It's well-known that Jebel Ali is a central hub for automotive trade in the Middle East, with DP World's RORO terminal ranking among the busiest globally. However, the ongoing Red Sea crisis and suspension of RORO carriers through the Red Sea, shifting volumes to Jebel Ali as a discharge alternative, have played a significant role in this impressive surge. Aqaba has been heavily impacted by these changes, with much of its vehicle cargo rerouted to Dubai. With this increasing demand, there’s room for further enhancements at Jebel Ali's RORO terminal to meet future volumes effectively. 🔗 Read more about DP World’s automotive milestones in the article below. Jebel Ali Port Achieves Remarkable Vehicle Handling Milestone in 2024 Shipping Arabia, November 4, 2024 — Jebel Ali Port, operated by DP World Group, has impressively handled 427,000 vehicles in the first half of the year, with expectations to reach over 800,000 by year-end, according to Sultan bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World Group. This announcement underscores the port’s robust capacity and strategic role in the automotive sector, reinforcing Dubai's position as a pivotal trade hub. In a recent discussion with Al-Bayan, Bin Sulayem expressed pride in DP World’s collaboration with Dubai Municipality to develop the world’s largest and most advanced automotive market and a leading logistics hub for fresh produce and other food products. He emphasized that these projects are testament to the leadership's confidence in DP World’s ability to foster sustainable growth and enhance Dubai’s global stature in alignment with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) has been instrumental in propelling the UAE’s automotive industry forward. Its unique logistics infrastructure and extensive global trade network facilitate connections between traders in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East with global consumers, particularly benefiting the used vehicle market. Jebel Ali Port serves as a crucial node for both the import and export of used vehicles, positioning Dubai as a top export hub for this sector in the UAE and the MENA region. A report by Ken Research projects the UAE's used car market revenue to hit AED 112 billion by 2025, driven by increasing demand. The port's roll-on/roll-off cargo terminal is central to its success, featuring multiple berths for efficient vehicle loading and unloading, with a capacity to handle up to one million vehicles annually. The port also boasts facilities to store 27,000 vehicles, including expansive multi-story parking, making it the largest facility of its kind in the region. Complementing these capabilities, JAFZA offers tailored logistic solutions through DP World Logistics, enhancing supply chain operations for automotive traders. These services include advanced fourth-party logistics, real-time tracking and tracing, trade financing solutions, and reverse logistics for returns, leveraging DP World’s global presence across 78 countries to benefit car consumers worldwide.
