Latin Resources Limited's Vice President of operations in the Americas, Tony Greenaway, joined Proactive to further expand on the high-grade drill results that confirmed the scale of the Planalto prospect at the Salinas #Lithium Project in Brazil. Greenaway notes that the Planalto prospect shares similar mineralisation characteristics with the Company's Colina Deposit, which has long been the subject of #LRS' #exploration and development campaign. In an article in VG - Verdens Gang AS, Norway’s largest newspaper, Sofie Marhaug, a member of parliament for the far-left Rødt party, wants the state to take control of the rare earth resources at the Fen field, where REE Minerals has exploitation rights.   While we don’t fully agree with her arguments in favour of state ownership, REE Minerals is open to public co-ownership as long as this increases the likelihood that the Fen field is developed and contributes to long-term value creation. Oriole Resources PLC (AIM:ORR) CEO Tim Livesey and chief financial officer Bob Smeeton join Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with details of the company's 2023 financial and operational performance. Livesey highlighted successful exploration programs in Cameroon, at the Bibemi and Mbe projects, resulting in an enhanced main resource at Bibemi to 375,000 ounces. The latter part of the year focused on negotiations with external investors, culminating in deals with BCM for 50% ownership and $4 million investment in each of the Bibemi and Mbe licences. Smeeton detailed a £2.4 million operating loss, attributing it to non-cash items and emphasising cash preservation as a primary goal. The company secured project-level funding and a financing deal with Lanstead, providing monthly payments based on share price, which outperformed initial expectations. We’ve had our previous colour scheme over the past few years and change has been overdue. Out with the old and in with the new! When the GSTT was founded in the 1970s, the energy industry was quite contrasting to present and many of the local geologists would’ve pursued studies on the Texaco Geology Scholarship. Trintopec and Trintoc merged in 1993 and Trinmar later merged in 2000 to form the Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited, which at that time was the state-owned oil company in our country. Many of our local talent i.e. Trinidadian geologists, would’ve been employed by this company or those prior to the series of mergers. Thus undoubtedly, marking this corporation as integral to our geologists and the geological society. This peachy, orange colour was chosen from the Geological Map of Trinidad created by Swiss geologist, Hans G. Kugler. On the map it represents outcropping areas of the Point-a-Pierre Formation on which the headquarters of this former company was located. Interesting discussion of the Heads of Mineral Resources Departments of the Nordic Geological Surveys addressing the critical and strategic mineral exploration potential in their countries, also in relation to CRMA implementation. Mineral exploration drives the Canadian economy and is crucial for the shift towards a low-carbon society. A key element of early stage project development is timely and transparent permitting requirements which enable efficient planning and execution of exploration programs.

Investors are looking for companies that can add value. For that, you need to explore. To do that, you need certainty, predictability and transparency for permitting. #criticalminerals

In speaking about the positive impact of the resource industry, we often rely on economic data. According to NRCAN, the B.C. mineral exploration and mining industry currently contributes 35,000 jobs, $7.3B in GDP, 28 per cent of our export value and $1B in provincial revenue. In other words, it's a huge part of our economy, but sometimes it's hard to convey what these numbers actually mean. AME - Association for Mineral Exploration is doing some incredible work right now, to highlight the people and voices behind those numbers. During a visit to Westhaven Gold Corp. in Merritt, Keerit Jutla met a group of young geologists. Their energy and passion for the work they do really shines through here and showcases how important mineral exploration. It's also clear that mining is a career of the future and that opportunity exists outside of urban areas. As a province with an affordability problem and housing crisis it's important that young people have opportunities to get ahead. Mining and exploration offer that opportunity.
