Donre Advisory's downfall was precipitated by operating without FCA-approved senior managers, leading to its eventual liquidation. This firm was also tied to Express Newspapers and Onvestor Advisory Limited, the latter of which provided defined benefit advice to UK expatriates in key markets such as the USA, Australia, and Dubai. This case serves as a stark reminder that not all advice is created equal. Services like those provided by Donre Advisory may seem appealing, but the lack of proper oversight and governance can lead to advice that isn’t in the client’s best interest, end up costing more and potentially losing regulatory protection. As financial advisers, it's imperative to understand the dynamics that led to Donre Advisory's liquidation and apply these lessons to our own practices. This not only safeguards our clients’ interests but also upholds the credibility and trust of the industry as a whole.
