President Elect Trump today threatened 25% tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada on Day 1 of his presidency, which begins in 6 weeks. Canada is probably a little confused about why they were lumped in with Mexico and China as Canada isn't a gateway for fentanyl. I don’t expect a 25% tariff for Canada and Mexico imports on day 1, I do expect a lot of fear and uncertainty by importers and that fear and uncertainty will give President Trump leverage on trade and will drive reshoring by importers of all types.
LOL The chaos is just getting started, so hang on tight because the roller coaster hasn’t even started yet. A lot of people who voted for Trump, are in for a surprise as they get the inflation, unemployment, and chaos in spades they thought they were getting rid of.
Possibly as a way to stop China from circumventing the tariffs if they import through our northern and southern borders?
Never a better time to expand to Europe then...:)

If Honda moves EV vehicle production to Canada there will be Tariffs… they would not be competitive.

4dThe communicated objective of these tariffs are to reduce illicit drugs and precursors. This is a smart because everyone can agree that stopping the flow of drugs is necessary. Furthermore the implied message is that if authorities in China assist in the stopping the flow, then then tariffs could be removed.
