Great work, Kevin and the AWS team! Clean Transition Tariffs (CTT) are a key enabler for achieving these important goals. Another exciting opportunity to accelerate renewable energy adoption in data center growth is through the load-shifting capabilities of V2X technology. By leveraging the millions of EVs entering the market, we can tap into stored renewable energy in their batteries, significantly reducing AWS’s energy costs. Even better, Amazon can utilize its rapidly expanding EV fleet to support the load shift needed for intermittent wind and solar power to behave more like base-load generation. This approach benefits Amazon directly while also advancing its Climate Pledge goals. #RenewableEnergy #V2X #Sustainability #EV #AWS #DataCenters #CleanEnergy #EnergyStorage #ClimatePledge
I was proud to stand alongside Sec. of Energy Jennifer Granholm, Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, Dominion Energy, Energy Northwest and X-energy today at Amazon HQ2 as Matt Garman announced innovative agreements to pioneer the development of a new nuclear energy project in Washington State and explore another in Virginia. These agreements will support the construction and exploration of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), an exciting moment of progress for the carbon-free energy transition. And our Climate Pledge Fund investment in X-energy will help develop the fuel and technology to advance more than five gigawatts of new nuclear over the next 15 years. As Amazon Web Services (AWS) continues to expand our infrastructure to meet customer demand, we’ll continue finding new ways to bring carbon-free energy to the grid to help power our operations and advance our Climate Pledge commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
