"Building trust in vaccines starts with education and community engagement," says Les Barta, director of simulation at the Rutgers University Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. "By partnering with organizations like VEEC and the Boys & Girls Club, we can reach a broader audience and foster a culture of health and prevention right in their communities as change agents." The Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy is training Vaccine Equity Education Coalition Ambassadors at the Boys & Girls Club of Newark to be advocates who counter vaccine hesitancy and build trust in immunization in their communities. #Vaccines #VaccineHesitancy #PharmacyEducation

Latinos Unidos for Vaccines: Advocating for Health Equity at the Capital In a resounding testament to solidarity and determination, the fervent members of Latinos Unidos for Vaccines, a pivotal chapter of Global Vaccine Ambassador, CEO and Founder of Julissa Soto Latino Equity Health Consulting, recently spearheaded a groundbreaking advocacy initiative aimed at bolstering vaccination rates in Colorado. This monumental event, christened Advocacy Day at the Capitol, witnessed the convergence of over 40 impassioned advocates hailing from a spectrum of organizations, including stalwarts such as Colorado Families for Vaccines, Immunize Colorado, and the Autism Society of Colorado. Against the backdrop of a disheartening trend of dwindling immunization rates, these devoted advocates congregated with a singular purpose: to tackle head-on the glaring disparities in vaccine access and confidence, with a particular emphasis on the Latino communities that have been disproportionately affected. **Engaging Trusted Messengers to Increase COVID-19 Pediatric Vaccine Uptake in Philadelphia: Lessons from the VaxUpPhillyFamilies Program** 💉👨👩👧👦 The VaxUpPhillyFamilies program, detailed in a study by Sarah Badlis et al. in *Vaccine*, focused on addressing the disparities in COVID-19 vaccination rates among communities of color in Philadelphia. Recognizing that parental concerns about vaccine safety and necessity contribute to low vaccination rates, the program enlisted parents and caregivers as trusted messengers to promote vaccine uptake. The study highlights the program's benefits, challenges, and key lessons, emphasizing the effectiveness of using community-based ambassadors to increase pediatric vaccination rates in underserved populations. #VaccineEquity #PublicHealth #CommunityEngagement 🌍💉🏙️

While combination vaccines have proven effective in pediatric programs globally for many years, there's a significant opportunity to enhance adult immunization rates, which currently lag behind. With several adult combination vaccines on the horizon, it's critical to prepare for the pricing and access considerations that will drive a successful launch, and explore drivers, barriers, precedents, and frames of reference that payers may use to structure negotiations. https://lnkd.in/gTM9PB55

Happy to announce that my article « Comparison of parent-reported motivators of non-vaccination for children 5-11 years old in Australia and Canada: Results of the iCARE study » was published in the journal Vaccine! This project gave me the opportunity of a lifetime to go live in australia for 4 months and collaborate with the Vaccine uptake group at Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI). Thank you to everyone who made this possible, I’m super grateful: Prof Margie Danchin, Jessica Kaufman, PhD, Monsurul Hoq, Jacqueline Boyle, Joanne Enticott, Kim L. Lavoie & Simon Bacon. Also, this would’ve not been possible without the financial support of Mitacs & Fonds de recherche du Québec. The article is available 👇 : https://lnkd.in/e4PvhJsK Our study revealed that 💉COVID-19 vaccine uptake for children 5–11 years old plateaued shortly after the rollout began in both Canada and Australia due to a complex range of factors. 🏠Parents/guardians who did not vaccinate their children in Canada and Australia had similar socioeconomic characteristics. ℹ️The main motivators for parents who did not vaccinate their children varied between Canada and Australia but both included desire for more information on vaccine safety and effectiveness. 🇨🇦For parents who did not vaccinate their children, Canadian parents were more vaccine hesitant than Australian parents and the motivators of vaccination were less influential compared to Australia. #icarestudy Montreal Behavioural Medicine Centre (MBMC) UQAM | Université du Québec à Montréal

Pediatric vaccine hesitancy—the reluctance of parents to get their children vaccinated—poses a challenge to COVID-19 prevention strategies. Several factors, including misinformation and religious or cultural beliefs, shape parents’ attitudes towards vaccination. Recent research has shown that in the United Sates, there is a significant partisan divide based on residence in either Republican or Democratic states as well as notable racial or ethnic disparities in the willingness of parents to vaccinate children against COVID-19. In a recent survey, parents reported that messages such as “Covid is Serious,” “Science Says Vaccine Works,” and “Vaccine Returns Kids to Normalcy” are the most likely to persuade them to vaccinate their children. The findings suggest that healthcare providers must evaluate the mindset of parents regarding COVID-19 vaccination and then use targeted messaging emphasizing the benefits of vaccine to tackle pediatric vaccine hesitancy. Today is #HPVAwarenessDay. HPV (human papillomavirus) can be attributed to 2.5% of cancers on continental Europe. 💉Vaccination programmes play an important role in preventing #cervicalcancer and HPV related cancers in men and women. 🇪🇸 Last year the Murcian Health Service (Murcia, Spain) welcomed health authorities from across the EU as part of the Overcoming Obstacles to Vaccination project onsite visit. The visit focused on the exemplary practice ‘School Vaccination Programme in Murcia Region’. ➡️ This practice aims to improve vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) and meningitis targeting children 11 years of age. By bringing vaccination directly into schools, the practice removes barriers for parents struggling with booking systems or health centre opening hours. It provides easy access and clear information on vaccination opportunities. 📈 As a result of the programme HPV coverage with two doses in 2020 and 2021 ranged between 85% and 95%, whereas the vaccination coverage rate achieved in the 1994-born cohort (vaccinated at health centres) was only 62.3%. Find out more about the exemplary practice on our website: https://lnkd.in/eEyA79Ep

CDC shares trends and disparities in childhood vaccination coverage Vaccines for Children (VFC), launched 30 years ago, removes cost as a barrier to recommended immunizations for certain minors — including those lacking insurance and those with coverage through Medicaid or the Indian Health Service. With than more than one-half of the U.S. pediatric population eligible, the program has helped to increase and maintain robust levels of childhood vaccination. However, according to a CDC analysis of 2012-22 data from the National Immunization Survey-Child (NIS-Child), more outreach is warranted. During the study period, vaccination uptake for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) was both high and stable among children who qualified for no-cost immunizations. Even so, VFC-eligible children lagged their non-eligible counterparts not only in MMR vaccine uptake but also for rotavirus vaccine and a combined 7-vaccine series. "Increased efforts must promote awareness of, confidence in, and receipt of all recommended vaccines among those eligible for the VFC program," the authors of the analysis write. https://buff.ly/3M76FWQ
