Last week, I shared an article on the disinformation campaigns surrounding the recent UK riots. This week, it’s more of the same – but this time in relation to the US elections. A recent CIR investigation exposed how fake pro-Trump accounts have been using stolen pictures to further their aims. It’s not clear who’s behind these accounts, but we certainly can’t rule out foreign actors. The amount of disinformation we’re seeing might paint a bleak picture, but by spreading awareness of it and investigating its source, we can hope to limit its effects. I’ve linked the full write-up of this investigation below. https://hubs.li/Q02P2yWW0 #Disinformation #OSINT #DigitalInvesitgations

#podcast Ryan Davis Co-Founder & COO of PeopleFirst shares insights and analysis about the activities of influencers and content creators in the campaign leading up to the 2024 election. While celebrity influencers have large followings, the voices of local people sharing authentic content about all kinds of interests broke through the noise to reach key segments of voters. We talk about: * Value of non-political content creators * Trap of preaching to the choir of those who are already interested in the campaign * Micro-influencers and the sweet spot for followers * Gen Z engagement and building relationships * Need for diverse voices to reach those looking for political information https://lnkd.in/g7dVPhy7

A little late to make it on this side of the social wall but better late than never, right? Ever since I stepped foot in college, I have admired Abhi and Niyu. Part because they are my college alumni but mostly because of the content they have curated and executed over the years - top notch, well researched and beyond authentic and that's what enticed me into the world of influencers. When I started building Influencer Marketing at Traya, they were at the top of my dream influencer list. Like every dream, this had its own set of challenges. Anyone who has remotely tried to work with them on the other side knows how they are very particular about the brands they join hands with. I knew we had to take a different approach here. It started with us explaining all the granular details about Traya to Abhiraj Rajadhyaksha and Niyati Mavinkurve and ended with him actually being on the treatment and getting the best possible integration out and oh of course, it became an experience for a lifetime. Working with them broadened my horizons to different levels, however, my biggest takeaway was that no matter how cluttered the influencer marketing space might be, there are creators who actually want to give out genuine recommendations to their audience. It took me almost 1.5 years to get through this, but in the end, it was all worth it! To have a sneak peek into one of my dream collaborations, hit the link below! Today is a big day in the United States of America! Election day where voters and yourself have a chance to see how your vote counts. Do you think social media has impacted the way people vote? I wanted to share thoughts on the creator world and how much influencers and celebrities impact some of these decisions. I'm sure when you watched the DNC or RNC you saw some of your favorite celebrities speak up or maybe it was a TikTok video that swayed your thoughts. Most of the Gen Z and millennial generation are consumed with social media and get most of their news daily from there. It's important to understand that YOU are the one making the choices for the future. Isn't it wild to think that now you are the creator? What you say on those social media platforms makes a difference to those who view it. Whatever creator you are from everyday users, influencers to celebrities. We all have a voice and sometimes those voices sway decisions. https://lnkd.in/gNHTRmCE

https://lnkd.in/efrQE2ue Really interesting to read that micro-targeted political advertising apparently has limited impact. Apparently targeting political ads to people based on age, gender, education, ideology or moral values doesn't help persuade many people let alone swing elections. I wonder what implications or parallels this has with digital advertising more generally and whether its the practice of microtargeting generally which is ineffective or political microtargeting or whether the parties adverts were just really really bad...
