When a crisis hits, possible solutions must be ready to be customised and activated. A follow through plan on keeping other business activities run as usual must run parallel to crisis resolution and last but not least, root cause detection to enable proper mitigation measures, must be taken seriously. Notice something in the flow here? There is barely time for blame assignment. When a crisis is unveiling, your first reaction should never be, "We need a head for the chopping board". Responsibility must be taken by those who made the mistake and consequences exist, but resolve first and reprimand later #crisiscomms #crisismanagement #communications

🔴 You're Doing Crisis Management Wrong! 🔴 Welcome to Part 2 of our Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) series. Here’s a blunt truth: if you're not tailoring your crisis response to the type of crisis you're facing, you're already behind. SCCT outlines 3 (and a half) primary response strategies: 🙅♂️ Deny: Refute the existence of a crisis or blame an external party. Best for unfounded rumors or when the organization is not at fault. 🤏 Diminish: Minimize responsibility by offering excuses or justifications. Useful in victim or minor accidental crises. 🛠️ Rebuild: Take full responsibility, apologize, and offer compensation. Essential for serious accidental or preventable crises. 💗 Bolster: Remind stakeholders of the organization’s past good deeds and praise their loyalty. This can support any of the primary strategies. Choosing the wrong strategy can escalate a crisis and cause irreparable damage to your organization's reputation. For example, using a denial strategy when the organization is clearly at fault can lead to backlash and loss of trust. On the other hand, a well-timed apology and compensation can not only mitigate damage but also restore stakeholder confidence. Stay tuned for Part 3, where we'll get into real-world case studies and explore their crisis management successes and failures! #PR #CorporateComms #CrisisComms #Crisis #DigitalPR
