Too often, I see Quality Management systems that seem to live a life separate from the actual Operations Management or the Operational Excellence program an organisation runs - that is so counter productive! The ISO (Quality) Management standards have always claimed to be driven by Continuous Improvement, for instance by being thoroughly based on the PDCA cycle. But in reality, the strict documentation guidelines of previous ISO versions often led to a bureaucratic Quality Manual that got out of touch with daily practices on the shop floor for too many companies. With the 2015 update in the ISO standards, I think they did a brilliant job of simplifying the documentation requirements, linking up with practical Continuous Improvement and streamlining integration of different disciplines into a single strategic management agenda. Even though 2015 has come and gone a long time by now I want to share this with you in a video, as I still see many organisations struggle with their Quality Management System. Hope this inspires you to take a good look at your own Management standards and glide your way through a next audit as well as your next wave of Operational Improvements. #continuousimprovement #iso #qms https://lnkd.in/eTw9mGem

ISO 9001:2015: Understanding Clause 4 – Context of the Organization In the journey to implementing a robust Quality Management System (QMS), Clause 4 of ISO 9001:2015 serves as a fundamental building block. It requires organizations to determine both internal and external factors that could impact their ability to deliver quality. But why is it so important? Clause 4 emphasizes the importance of contextual awareness in shaping your quality management strategy. Here’s a breakdown of what it entails: Understanding the Organization and Its Context: Organizations must identify issues both within the organization (internal) and from external forces (market trends, regulations, etc.) that can impact their QMS. ✅ Understanding the Needs and Expectations of Interested Parties: It’s essential to identify key stakeholders and their requirements. These could be customers, suppliers, regulators, or even employees. ✅ Determining the Scope of the QMS: Based on the identified factors, organizations must determine the boundaries and applicability of the QMS. ✅ QMS and Its Processes: Finally, organizations must establish, implement, and maintain processes to meet these expectations. This week, we’ll take a closer look at each of these sections, guiding you through how to apply them practically to ensure your QMS is relevant, effective, and resilient in a changing environment. 👉 I’d love to hear your thoughts!
