Black Tech Street’s new AI Center of Excellence aims to make it Tulsa the new epicenter of equitable AI. Black Tech Street is launching an AI Center of Excellence in Greenwood, Tulsa, a monumental step toward equitable AI and empowering Black communities in tech. This initiative aims to create a robust AI ecosystem, addressing historical inequities and fostering new opportunities for the future. Key highlights: ⇒  $51 million awarded to the Tulsa Hub for Equitable and Trustworthy Autonomy (THETA), with Black Tech Street as a key partner. ⇒  Goal to create 1,000 Black cyber professionals in Tulsa by 2030 through a partnership with Microsoft. ⇒  Focus on equitable AI research and development, specifically relevant to Tulsa and Black Tech Street's aspirations. ⇒  Potential to generate up to 56,000 new jobs in the region over the next decade. ⇒  Aims to establish Greenwood as the blueprint for responsible AI development across the country. "This project aims to build a holistic AI ecosystem for Historic Greenwood that can power the creation and attraction of Black AI talent, innovation, and ventures," said Tyrance Billingsley II, founder and Executive Director of Black Tech Street. "Our goal is to keep Greenwood globally competitive in the 21st Century and we see this work as a key part of how we do that.“ This initiative not only honors the legacy of Black Wall Street but also positions Tulsa at the forefront of AI innovation while prioritizing diversity and inclusion. By leveraging AI technologies, we can bridge historical inequities and create new opportunities for the future.
