An incredible week for Wake County recognition for innovation in tech! 🏆 #TeamWake’s #digitaltransformation efforts were recognized at the North Carolina Technology Association (NC TECH) Tech Awards banquet. It was amazing to celebrate with our IT team, as well as Board of Elections; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Emergency Management; Soil & Water; and our Tax Department. The folks who live, work, play, and learn in our county are truly better off for these efforts. 🎙️ Wake County and municipalities within Wake also participated in this week’s NC Security & Privacy Forum, a collaboration between N.C. Department of Information Technology and the Center for Digital Government (Government Technology). I was delighted that Wake's Artificial Intelligence lead, Andrew Hess, was featured during the AI section, along with Michael Ware (who has an awesome story as well!) and folks from the private sector (Dell & Presidio). Wake’s innovative partnership with City of Raleigh Municipal Government and Town of Cary to bring cybersecurity defense to our residents was also featured on the main stage. CISO Lisa Jones, CISSP, as well as CISOs Dustin Baptiste, CISSP, GEVA and Marina Lail Kelly did a fabulous job telling their story, sharing lessons learned & how to get partners involved, and inspiring others to help to keep not only their government employees safe, but everybody in their communities cyber-safe. 🫢 I was also very honored this week to be named the Public Sector CIO of the Year by the North Carolina Technology Association (NC TECH). This is definitely a recognition for Wake and the incredible work that has been enabled by our Board, our Manager's office, and partners! But I do want to call out #NCTech as a great partner to me personally during the last few decades of my career. Their collaboration and networking events have helped me become a better leader & technologist. I am also grateful to family, staff, and partners for always inspiring me to be better. Many thanks to all! 😊
