How many exams do I have to take in the #CIMA program?
I receive this question frequently from new #CIMAstudents. So, how about we provide a quick overview of the CIMA course structure?
The CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualification consists of several stages, each comprising a set of exams and requirements.
1. Certificate Level: The Certificate in Business Accounting is the entry-level qualification, consisting of four exams:
· Fundamentals of Management Accounting
· Fundamentals of Financial Accounting
· Fundamentals of Business Mathematics
· Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance, and Business Law
Upon completion of these exams, candidates receive the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting.
2. Operational Level: The Operational level focuses on operational management and includes three objective tests:
· E1 - Enterprise Operations
· P1 - Performance Operations
· F1 - Financial Operations
Candidates must also complete the Integrated Case Study (OCS - Operational Case Study) exam, which integrates knowledge from the three operational level papers.
3. Management Level: The Management level builds on the operational level and includes three objective tests:
· E2 - Enterprise Management
· P2 - Performance Management
· F2 - Financial Management
Candidates also need to pass the Integrated Case Study (MCS - Management Case Study) exam, which integrates knowledge from the management level papers.
4. Strategic Level: The Strategic level focuses on strategic management and includes three objective tests:
· E3 - Strategic Management
· P3 - Risk Management
· F3 - Financial Strategy
Candidates must pass the Strategic Case Study (SCS) exam, which integrates knowledge from the strategic level papers and requires candidates to demonstrate their strategic decision-making abilities.
Also note that, where you start is largely dependent on your exemption status. For instance, students with the ACCA qualification start with the Management Gateway exam.
