I talk about meaning and purpose a lot; it's a very important principle and component to me. Wondering why? Here's a personal story that redefined my entire philosophy on life and work. Long before Teraflow.ai, I was a senior brand manager on a promising career track. And I absolutely hated what I was doing. One evening, at about 8 PM, I was at home when my boss called about an overdue report I was blissfully unaware of. He had to cover for me, doing my report while I sat chilling at home! I felt terrible. I felt like I was stealing from the company because I wasn't interested in the work I was doing and didn't find any value in it. I felt like I was not contributing any value for the money I was getting paid! The next morning, I walked in and resigned, much to the shock (and perhaps a hint of admiration) of my colleagues. It was a significant moment in the sense that I gave up the meaningless to pursue the meaning that was important to me. Leaving was tough. The consequences of that decision were challenging because I've been unwilling to compromise. It cost me financially and career-wise, but I wanted to find real meaning in my work and not just be another cog in the machine. This core philosophy has shaped how I've built Teraflow.ai. I focus on creating a company culture where my staff finds meaningful engagement and gets value out of every task. That pivotal resignation morning, I made a life-altering decision to follow my own rules. I chose to pursue purpose over paycheck, to chase what really matters, and man, it's been a wild and fulfilling journey.

👋 Hi! If we've recently connected or it's been a while, I'd love to re-introduce myself. I'm Katya, and my life's mission is to ignite a more joyful world. How? By supporting the expansion of individuals and organizations to be their most effervescent selves. Why effervescent? ✨ The word means 'full of life.' Bubbling with opportunity and pizzazz is how I envision it. ✨ Like many people, I didn't want to just "get through" the work week, waiting for the living to happen on weekends. And while I loved the jobs in my career most days... I kept returning to the question, "What if..." ⚡️ What if we could experience more daily joy? (Which, research shows, contributes to individual and collective well-being and resilience.) ⚡️ What if we could amplify our impact even more? ⚡️ What if we could get out of bed galvanized by what's ahead? ⚡️ What would it look like to live fully every single day? That's how Effervescent You was born. 🌱 (Well, it was the synthesis of a decade's work in organizational and leadership development: training, coaching, or consulting with 6,000+ executives, managers, and ICs at companies like Google, Netflix, and Instacart.) Interestingly, many leaders shared a similar sentiment: 🫶 They wanted to heal from organizational burnout. Be more present with their families. Find energy (not just time!) for hobbies outside of work. Feel more alive. Effervescent, even ☺️ These days, I feel pretty darn grateful to do this work: help individuals and organizations structure their mindsets, behaviors, and systems to live fully and thrive. 🌻 I'm currently expanding my work with high achievers (namely early-to-mid career professionals) who might benefit from a heart-centered and research-backed approach of moving from insight to action. Together, we explore internal narratives, motivations and blockers, and focus on defining and building habits around what success looks (and feels!) like to them--especially around pivotal moments in career or life. 💛 Most importantly, I'm ignited by connecting with and hearing about YOUR experiences. What's something you keep returning to? What question keeps bubbling up for you? 🫧

Agreed 100% ✅️✅️✅️ Been HR before, based on my experience, we should always give a chance and an open-door opportunity to everyone to explore, discover, and grow. Sky is the limit. Whatever we can give and whoever we can be will comes naturally as destined. Metrics and KPIs are not the thing that we should always rely on to measure what someone can do or cannot do. Sometimes, freeing yourself from what you used to do gives the realization that you can do more beyond the expectation.

I remember the day I handed in my resignation. 😔 It was from the fancy job I always dreamed off. It was an extremely tough decision. 🥺 I thought I would feel awful. Instead, I felt relief. Like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. My boss said ‘he was shocked’. And that made it even worse. 😥 Why? Because I felt like I was ‘invisible’ to him. 🥺 I always delivered higher than expectations. THAT made him look good. But what about me? ….What about my growth? ….What about my development? None of that seemed to matter. 😔 It was only about ↳ KPIs ↳ Metrics ↳ Results It was then that decided that I was going to lead differently. In my next role, here is what I did differently: 1. I tried to build a real connection with my team. 🤝 (This was right from the time I interviewed them) 2. I always encouraged them to speak up. 🗣️ (Even though the feedback was tough, sometimes) 3. I celebrated the smallest wins 🎉 (In fact, other teams would often ask me why we are so ‘joyful’) 4. I encouraged their growth 🚀 (Even offered to take on some of their tasks when they had to prep for an exam) The result? ↳We had the highest engagement, as a team in our organisation. 🏆✨ ↳The team continued to grow & thrive in their careers. 😎 Moral of the Story: ✨Awesome teams are built on connection, trust and growth. ✨ (Not on KPIs). Thank you Justin Wright for this super helpful framework. __________ ♻️ Repost to share this message with other leaders 🐾 Follow Desma Rovina D'Souza 🎙 for more mindset insights on HR, Personal Growth & Entrepreneurship

I didn't like how I felt at work. Drained. Judgmental. Competitive. Frustrated. The list was growing at a rapid pace. After patiently (and impatiently) waiting for "something new to happen," it didn't. I had to make the changes. The idea of changing was overwhelming and scary and daunting and hard to get started. So many uncertainties and an abundance of doubts. I had poor habits to break - ones that were rewarded in the systems where I worked. I had an ego to compete with. "What will people think?" "What will she think?" "Why can't you work without trying to be someone or something?" "But, you have a good life." I was so fearful of judgment by others that I almost missed that I was my own biggest critic. I had an internal battle to do more, be more, make changes for myself while also conforming to standards or ways of working that made me unhappy. I was confident that if I could quiet my own critic, the rest would work itself out. My life is in motion but it's progressing toward a more complete picture of me living my values, every day. How do I feel today? Rested. Challenged. Collaborative. At peace. Joyful. #contractor #marketingconsultant #mindsetshift

Is it any wonder you have hit a moment in your career where you're no longer enjoying what you're doing? Your life is changing all the time! You probably don't give yourself enough credit for how much you've changed in your personal life. Nor have you taken the time to really question why you feel like this. (The career is usually just the symptom, not the problem) Take a moment and look back, can you see how many times you have already had moments like this? I can spot 3 in my life at different ages... 16 - 23 Dropping out of college and straight into retail 23 - 30 Climbing the corporate ladder in HR. 30 - 32 Focusing on my mission and self-employment At each point, my life priorities had shifted, my personal values had evolved and these changes drove me to make a change in my professional life. So remember, when you're in the middle of a moment of redirection it can feel → Scary → Impossible → Overwhelming You might be left questioning 'what the heck is going on and why do I feel like this?' But just remember, you have done scary things and made changes before and not just survived but thrived! So of course, if change is required now, you can do it again... one small action at a time. I wrote on how to identify and manage a moment of redirection, check it out: https://lnkd.in/eZADUXtp 📸 It's been a journey to get from my Boots days to today! I wonder where I'll be in another 16 years! Hopefully, on a beach and having completed a full TEDx talk by then!

In my previous career, I saw several leaders whom I highly admired get their dream jobs, and their wives left... "Suddenly." 😳 It was a trip-wire moment where their lives changed in an instant, and they were devastated. I didn't understand it then, but a few years later, I had my own trip-wire moment and resigned a few years short of retirement. I pursued entrepreneurship and mentally collapsed 18 months later. 😒 This is what I learned about high achievers (men and women), leaders, burnout, and tripwire moments. 1. It's not a moment. The signs are there. Bells are ringing. Red flags are being waved. But all we see is our next goal. 2. We know EXACTLY what we need to do to take care of ourselves, but we don't have time because we are focused on our next goal. 3. We have a high pain tolerance, so while EVERYONE around us can see we are not okay, we can't see it because we are focused on our next goal. (Lol! Do you see the pattern?) 🧐 4. We don't know how to slow down or stop, EVER, and many of us have to learn the hard way. 5. If we really understood that taking a few minutes every day to take care of ourselves will allow us to speed up with relaxed intensity, it would change everything. I have taught this to my clients all over the world for the past ten years and my insight hasn't changed. In these times of normalized chaos and leaders are incinerating, it's more important than ever to have REAL, TANGIBLE, ACTIONABLE insight that leaders can use to be more effective. The weight of leadership is crushing, and with executives and leaders burning out at record rates, I really just want to share, 1. Meditate 3x a week for 5 minutes 2. Work out 3x a week for 30 minutes 3. Listen to something positive daily It will save your life, your marriage, your kids, and the career you love. Can we touch and agree that you will make at least one of these a habit before the end of the year? 🖐🏾 Love Christy 💙 #career #job #employment #jobinterviews #management #professionalwomen #payraiseplaybook

Confession: It took me MONTHS to finally stop playing the fence. I would crawl out of bed Monday through Friday. I would have meh days at work, until I had that reallllly bad, annoying day. Then, I would frantically look for new roles that would help me skidaddle on out of there. Then, things wouldn’t be so terrible at work, so I’d get comfortable again... Then, I would have another really annoying day. And, BOOM.💥 The cycle would start again. Yep, it was exhausting. (Double tap if it sounds like I just eavesdropped on your therapist session. 👀) But, I stayed because... 1️⃣ I thought it was the best I could do — I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to find better. 2️⃣ I was “comfortably unhappy” — I kept ignoring the feeling that I could do more than this. 3️⃣ I was waiting for things to magically change on their own — which never happened, if anything things went from worse to worser. Until one day, it finally clicked. The person that needed to change was ME. I needed to stop waiting and start creating the change I wanted to see in my career. I needed to use my current role as confirmation that I could get a better one—and I did. I landed a NEW and BETTER role, just 7 weeks after that epiphany. Funny enough, it’s been 7 years since I turned in that resignation letter. Since then, I’ve helped 100s of corporate high-achievers in dozens of industries take their careers to the next level with new jobs they love too. So, if you’re a mid-to-senior corporate high-achiever finally ready to get your confidence back so that you can stand out and get hired for a new senior role you’ll love with less stress—and without endlessly applying to jobs… I’d love to work with you, tap the link below to learn more about my intimate coaching program, careerREDEFINED, where I’ll show you how to land a better role with less stress and more confidence. ✨ https://lnkd.in/eh679nS

Ever wondered how finding joy in the little things can significantly impact your career and personal growth? Let's dive into this! In this fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the chase for the next big achievement or milestone. However, I've discovered that embracing the small victories and moments of joy along the way can be incredibly empowering. Whether it's the satisfaction of solving a complex problem, the gratitude of a client's thank you, or simply the camaraderie shared with colleagues over a coffee break, these moments matter. Why? Because they remind us that growth isn't just about reaching the peak; it's about the journey. They fuel our positivity, making us more resilient and adaptable in the face of challenges. In my 20 years in recruiting, I've seen firsthand how a positive outlook can transform the recruitment process, making it more efficient and enjoyable for everyone involved. But more importantly, finding joy in the little things helps us stay connected to our core values and what truly matters to us. It encourages us to be brave, be strong, and most importantly, be ourselves. In a world that often pushes us to conform, maintaining our individuality and integrity is crucial. So, how can we start noticing and appreciating these small joys? It begins with mindfulness—taking a moment to be present and truly engage with the now. It's about celebrating every step forward, no matter how small, and recognizing the value you bring just by being you. I encourage you to take a moment today to reflect on the little things that bring you joy and how they've impacted your career and personal growth. Share your experiences in the comments below—I'd love to hear your stories! Let's remind each other that in the grand scheme of things, you matter, and the little things are not so little after all. #positiveprogressions #GrowthMindset #Positivity #CareerJourney #enjoythejourney

A message to ALL employers and company decision makers: It's never easy when a company shifts direction, but what’s even harder for employees is being left behind without proper communication. Today, my life-partner and about 10 of her colleagues were called into a private meeting, only to be told—out of the blue—that they were being laid off as the business "moves in a different direction." No explanation, no transparency. For you, the day you tell them you're letting them go might just be like any other day. But have you ever thought of how would it feel to be in their shoes? This is how the next few weeks will unfold for them: Week 1: They’re still in denial, trying to rationalize the decision. They reach out to internal people, hoping for any crumbs of explanation that might make sense of it all. Week 2: They start accepting the decision, but doubt creeps in. They begin searching for new job opportunities but are uncertain about their own skills, still frustrated and angry. Week 3: They feel scared and overwhelmed by how difficult it is to find a new job, realizing they were never prepared for this situation. Week 4-6: The reality starts to sink in. Hope begins to fade as they lower their expectations, unsure of when or where they’ll land their next opportunity. Week 7-10: They’re now willing to accept any lowball offers, simply to put something on their plate and keep moving forward. You may think that your employees should always be prepared for these circumstances, but no one can truly prepare for this—especially when they've dedicated themselves to their work and the success of the company. If you want your employees to care about the company, return the favor. Treat them with the respect and transparency they deserve. #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #EmployeeSupport #TransparencyInBusiness #EmployeeWellbeing #EmployerAccountability
