Introduction to fonts
- Well before we dive deeply into formatting text here in Microsoft Word 2016, it might be a good idea to get a quick introduction to Fonts. Now, for some of you, this is going to be a review, for others, brand new. We're going to work with this file called Fonts0301. You'll find it in the chapter three folder of your exercise files. And we'll begin right here on the first line next to Understanding Fonts. Alright, well Fonts, or, what we used to call type faces have really become synonymous. Fonts used to be subset of a type face but, now they really mean the same thing. And that is simply a collection of characters or a character set for example. You'll have alphanumeric characters, that means letters, numbers, punctuation, even special characters you might not be able to find on the keyboard like the smiley face or copyright symbol, for example. But, it all comes down to really two main groups of fonts that is Serif and Sans Serif fonts. Now here's an example of a very popular…
