Testing DNS name resolution
- [Instructor] Although you can use the ping command to test basic network connectivity, you can also use it to make sure that DNS name resolution is working properly, so let's take a look at how that works. I'm going to begin by clicking on the Start button and I'll go to all apps. I'll go to the W section of the Start menu. I'll expand Windows System. And I'll click on Command Prompt to open a command prompt window. So let's start with just doing a basic connectivity test. I'm going to type ping followed by the IP address of another system on my network, and the IP address that I'm going to use is 147.100.100.161. So let's go ahead and do that. I'll press Enter, and I get a reply from that system. Now, I also happen to know that that system has a computer name of win2 and it's joined to a domain named poseylab.com. So we can test DNS name resolution by pinging the fully qualified domain name of that system. So I'll…
