- I bet you've never asked yourself, am I learning right now? No one really does. Most of the time, learning is a reflex, just as natural as breathing, but if you think about it, people usually learn for specific reasons. As a trainer, a variety of people will come to your sessions. Whether they came of their own choosing, or because someone forced them, they are there for a reason. Also, you must respect and recognize why they chose to come to your session. Here are five primary learning principles to keep in mind about how to treat participants within the training session. First, most adult learners are self-directed, and want to be actively involved in the learning process. They need to assume responsibility for their choices, make their own decisions, and be allowed to contribute to the process.
