- Once you have a baseline measure of the effectiveness of talent acquisition and hiring, you'll want to improve these metrics over time. If you select performance ratings as a quality of hire metric, you can do a few analyses to identify opportunities to improve it. One is to look at the quality of hire by source. In the graph you see, new hires via referrals have higher ratings on average than employees hired through other channels. What conclusion should you draw from this? Should you only hire by referrals going forward? Not necessarily. It is insightful to know that referrals are effective. However, most organizations cannot fill all the jobs by referrals, so this may be unrealistic. It may be worth looking into why hires who come through Twitter are less effective.
