Tips for Remote Interviews
I realized that the debate around remote work and return to office is raging as we speak. Regardless of whether debate lands, remote interviews are here to stay for two reasons, one good and one maybe not so good. First, the good reason. Companies have expanded their hiring strategies to be more inclusive. They want their technologists and employees to be as diverse as their customer base. This means that rather than depending on existing networks, they are reaching out to candidates from different backgrounds who could bring fresh ideas and new thinking. So that is good. Rather than insisting on four year college degrees, they are now open to boot campers with solid job-ready skills. This is great news and opens the door to top tech jobs for candidates who may not be co-located and until recently, were out of luck.
